Q. 1 My English is not very good. Should I apply for LIC AAO?

Yes! Please note that the English section is only qualifying for this exam. Let’s have a look at the sectional details. Prelims has English Language with special emphasis on grammar, vocabulary and Comprehension and has 30 questions with 30 maximum marks. You only need to score 10 marks in this section. Similarly, Mains has a section of English Language (Letter writing & Essay) having 2 questions with 25 maximum marks. Here again, you only need to score 10 marks to qualify for this section. Please note that the English section will not be considered for ranking.

Q. 2 Is LIC AAO a Government Job?

A job at LIC AAO will imply working for a public sector undertaking whose 96% stake is with the central government as of now. So, the answer is no, it’s not a central government job. It’s actually a public sector undertaking job where LIC has got its own rights through its Board of directors, in terms of service conditions and benefits of the employees.

Q. 3 Is the job profile of a LIC AAO similar to Bank PO? How is the work pressure?

The work profile is more or less similar to a Bank PO. Talking about work pressure, it is relatively low when compared with that of Bank PO.

Q. 4 How much are the working hours of an LIC AAO?

The working hours are 10 am to 5 pm. There is a lunch break of 45 minutes (1.30 pm to 2.15 pm).

Q. 5 How much Is the salary of an LIC AAO? What are the other benefits?

The salary will be approximately Rs. 92870/- per month in ‘A’ Class city. Other benefits are Defined Contributory Pension, Gratuity, LTC, Cash Medical Benefit, Group Mediclaim, Group Personal Accident Insurance, Group Insurance, Vehicle Loan (2-wheeler/4 wheeler) as per rules, meal coupon, reimbursement of cost of Brief case/ leather bags, mobile handset, supply of dailies and magazines and tea/coffee, mobile expenses, etc. as per rules. 

Q. 6 My graduation results will be released in February. Can I apply for LIC AAO?

No! It is clearly written in the official notification that the results of graduation should have been declared on or before January 1, 2023. So you shouldn’t apply.

Q. 7 How much is the probation period in LIC AAO? Can it be extended until 2 years?

A candidate after appointment shall be on probation for a period of one year from the date of joining. This period may be extended up to two years depending upon your performance. 

Q. 8 Is there a Guarantee Bond in LIC AAO as well?

Yes! Candidates will be required to give an undertaking to serve LIC for a minimum period of four years from the date of joining. If s/he fails to serve for this period, s/he will be liable to pay liquidated damages of Rs.5,00,000/-only (Rupees Five Lakhs only) + GST.

Q. 9 Will there be sectional cut-offs in LIC AAO selection? What about overall cut-offs?

Yes! Candidates MUST pass each Section separately and should also obtain minimum marks in the aggregate to qualify for the online examinations (Preliminary and Main) and the interview.

Q. 10 Will Phase I: Prelims exam’s scores be considered for the final merit listing?

No! Marks obtained in the Main Examination only will be considered for shortlisting for interview and marks obtained in Main Examination + marks obtained in Interview will be considered for final merit listing of candidates.

Q. 11 LIC AAO Interview is of how many marks?

Maximum Interview marks are 60 and qualifying marks for EWS, Unreserved, and OBC are 30. Qualifying marks for SC /ST/PwBD candidates are 27. Candidates who do not obtain the minimum qualifying marks as decided by LIC shall be excluded from the further selection process. 

Q. 12 I have clicked the ‘Complete Registration’ button but need to make some changes. Can I do that?

Sorry! As per the official notification, no change will be possible/ entertained once you have clicked the COMPLETE REGISTRATION button. 

Q. 13 Is there anything new in LIC AAO 2023 notification when compared with the 2019 notification?

No, there is nothing new in the LIC AAO Notification this year.

Q. 15 Do EWS students have age relaxation as well?

No! There isn’t any age relaxation for EWS students.

Q. 16 I am in the final year of my graduation. Can I also apply for this exam?

Please note that you can apply, however, the results should have been declared on or before 01.01.2023. Proper documents from Board / University for having declared the result on or before 01.01.2023 have to be submitted at the time of the interview. The date of passing the examination which is reckoned for eligibility will be the date of passing appearing on the mark sheet/ provisional certificate. 

Q. 17 Is 17 days enough for LIC AAO?

Yes! 17 days is more than enough for this exam provided you are through with all the major concepts of the different sections in this exam. Keep practising with the help of Mock Tests and try to devote 8-9 hours towards analysis & revision.

Q. 18 How should I prepare for LIC AAO?

Brush up on the basic concepts, do a lot of practice via mock tests and last but not least: analyze your mistakes and ensure that you don’t repeat those. 

Q. 19 What are the career prospects of an LIC AAO?

The first promotion in the case of LIC AAO is generally after 5-8 years. The organizational hierarchy is below:

Assistant Administrative Officer => Administrative Officer => Assistant Divisional Manager => Divisional Manager => Senior Divisional Manager => Regional Manager => Zonal Manager => General Managing Director => Chief Executive Officer

Q. 20 Is LIC AAO a target-based job?

No, It’s not a target-based job. It’s mainly an administrative job and you may be placed in different departments like New Business, Claims Settlement, Sales Department etc.
