Topic-Wise Weightage & Important Chapters

Before starting SBI Clerk preparation, it’s important to know which topics are more scoring. For example, in Quant, topics like Simplification/Approximation/number series, Data Interpretation, and Arithmetic (Profit & Loss, SI-CI, Time & Work, etc.) are frequently asked. In Reasoning, Puzzles & Seating Arrangement, Syllogism, Inequality, and Coding-Decoding dominate the paper. For English, Reading Comprehension, Cloze Test, and Error Detection are key. If you focus on these topics, your chances of clearing the cutoff will increase on your first attempt.

Is there any Negative Marking in the SBI Clerk Exam 2025?

Yes, there is negative marking in the SBI Clerk 2025 exam.

In the Preliminary Examination, each test will have a separate timing as per the official exam pattern. For every wrong answer in the objective tests, 1/4th of the marks assigned to the question will be deducted. However, there are no minimum qualifying marks prescribed for individual tests or for the overall aggregate score. Also, section-wise marks will not be maintained, which means your performance will be judged on your overall score.

In the Main Examination (Phase II), the same rule applies. For each incorrect answer in the objective test, 1/4th of the marks allotted to that question will be deducted. This system ensures that candidates attempt only the questions they are confident about. Therefore, accuracy is just as important as speed. Guesswork can lower your score, so focus on solving carefully to boost your marks.
