UIIC AO Eligibility Criteria 2026

The UIIC AO Eligibility Criteria 2026 are different for Generalist and Hindi Officer candidates. Eligibility is assessed as on 30 June 2026.

Candidates must satisfy the prescribed nationality, educational qualification and age requirements.

UIIC AO Educational Qualification 2026

UIIC AO Generalist Qualification

For the Administrative Officer – Generalist post, candidates must possess a:

Graduate Degree/Post Graduate Degree in any discipline from a recognised university, including disciplines such as Engineering, Arts, Science, Commerce, Agriculture, Data Science and others.

Candidates must have secured:

  • 60% marks in either degree examination for General/OBC/EWS candidates, as applicable.
  • 55% marks for SC/ST/PwBD candidates.

The qualification must be from a recognised university/institute approved by the relevant authority and should have been obtained through the prescribed 10+2+3 pattern or equivalent.

UIIC AO Hindi Officer Qualification

Candidates applying for the Hindi Officer discipline need a relevant Master’s Degree from a recognised university.

The notification accepts several qualification combinations involving Hindi, English and other subjects, including:

  • Master’s Degree in Hindi with English as a compulsory/elective subject or as the medium of examination at degree level.
  • Master’s Degree in English with Hindi as a compulsory/elective subject or as the medium of examination.
  • Master’s Degree in another subject with Hindi medium and English as compulsory/elective or the medium of examination.

The required percentage is 60% for General/OBC/EWS candidates and 55% for SC/ST/PwBD candidates, subject to the conditions prescribed in the notification.

Important Qualification Conditions

Candidates must have completed the prescribed qualification on or before 30 June 2026. Candidates who appeared in the final qualifying examination by that date but whose result was declared after 30 June 2026 are not eligible.

Working knowledge of Computer is mandatory.

If CGPA/OGPA/SGPA is awarded instead of percentage marks, the candidate must produce an official certificate showing the university’s prescribed conversion formula and the equivalent percentage.

A very important point is that the notification states that a fraction in the calculated percentage will be ignored. Therefore, 59.99% will be treated as less than 60%.

UIIC AO Age Limit 2026

The age limit for both the Generalist and Hindi Officer posts is:

Where a candidate qualifies for age relaxation under more than one category, the relaxation can be cumulative, subject to the maximum age not exceeding 45 years.

Candidates claiming age relaxation will have to produce the relevant certificates during the recruitment process.

UIIC AO Nationality 2026

A candidate must fulfil one of the nationality/citizenship conditions prescribed by UIIC. Eligible candidates may be:

  • Citizen of India
  • Subject of Nepal
  • Subject of Bhutan
  • Tibetan refugee who came to India before 1 January 1962 with the intention of permanently settling in India

How to Apply for UIIC AO Recruitment 2026?

Step 1: Visit the Official Website: Go to uiic.co.in and open the Recruitment section.

Step 2: Open the Application Link: Click on the “APPLY ONLINE” link for Administrative Officer Recruitment 2026.

Step 3: Complete New Registration: Click on “Click here for New Registration” and enter your name, contact details and email ID.

Step 4: Note Registration Credentials: A Provisional Registration Number and Password will be generated. These details will also be sent through email/SMS.

Step 5: Fill the Application Form: Log in and enter your personal, educational and category details carefully.

Step 6: Upload Documents: Upload the required photograph, signature, left thumb impression and handwritten declaration according to the prescribed specifications.

Important Point While Filling the Form

UIIC will not allow changes after completion of the registration process. Candidates must carefully verify their name, father’s/husband’s name and other details with their certificates and identity documents before final submission.

UIIC AO Photograph and Signature Specifications

Candidates must upload the required documents in the prescribed format.

Photograph

The photograph should be:

  • Recent passport-style colour photograph
  • Taken against a light-coloured, preferably white, background
  • Clearly showing the candidate’s face
  • Free from harsh shadows and red-eye
  • Without caps, hats or dark glasses, except permitted religious headwear that does not cover the face
  • Preferred dimensions: 200 × 230 pixels
  • File size: 20 KB to 50 KB

UIIC specifically warns that if the photograph is not uploaded correctly or is uploaded in the wrong place, the candidate may be denied admission to the examination.

Signature

The candidate must sign on white paper using black ink.

Signature in CAPITAL LETTERS will not be accepted.

The uploaded signature must be clear because it may be compared with the signature on the call letter or attendance sheet.

Left Thumb Impression

The left thumb impression must be taken on white paper using black or blue ink.

Handwritten Declaration

The handwritten declaration must be written by the candidate personally in English, using black or blue ink on white paper. It must not be written in capital letters.

The prescribed declaration is:

“I, _______ (Name of the candidate), hereby declare that all the information submitted by me in the application form is correct, true and valid. I will present the supporting documents as and when required.”

The handwritten declaration should be uploaded as a JPG/JPEG file with preferred dimensions of 800 × 400 pixels and file size of 50 KB–100 KB.

UIIC AO Selection Process 2026

The UIIC AO Selection Process 2026 consists of:

Tier-I Preliminary Examination → Tier-II Main Examination → Descriptive Test → Interview

Eligible candidates first appear for the Preliminary Examination. Candidates who qualify the required sectional and overall standards are shortlisted for the Main Examination. Candidates qualifying the Main Examination and applicable Descriptive Test are then considered for the Interview.

Merely fulfilling the eligibility conditions does not guarantee that a candidate will be called for the examination or interview.

UIIC AO Descriptive Test 2026 for Generalists

The Generalist Descriptive Test carries 30 marks and has a duration of 30 minutes.

An important point is that the Descriptive Test is qualifying in nature for the selection process, but its marks are not counted in the final merit list for Generalists. For Generalists, the final merit is prepared using Tier-II Objective marks and Interview marks in the ratio of 75:25. Preliminary marks and Descriptive Test marks are not included in final merit.

The Professional Knowledge section includes Hindi and English grammar/vocabulary, Official Language Act/Rules and translation from English to Hindi and Hindi to English.

Descriptive Test for Hindi Officers

The Hindi Officer Descriptive Test carries 50 marks and has a duration of 60 minutes.

It includes:

  • English Essay – 10 marks
  • Hindi Essay – 10 marks
  • Hindi Letter Writing – 10 marks
  • English to Hindi Translation – 10 marks
  • Hindi to English Translation – 10 marks

The descriptive test is conducted online in English and/or Hindi, depending on the question.

For Hindi Officers, the Tier-II Main Examination, comprising Objective and Descriptive Test marks, and Interview marks are considered for final merit in the ratio of 75:25. Preliminary Examination marks are not considered for final merit.

UIIC AO Negative Marking 2026

There is a penalty for incorrect answers in both the Preliminary and Main objective examinations.

One-fourth (1/4th) of the marks assigned to the question will be deducted for each wrong answer.

There is no penalty for unanswered questions.

UIIC AO Cut Off 2026

UIIC will determine the required qualifying marks and cut-offs for different stages of the recruitment.

The notification states that candidates must qualify each individual section as well as the overall qualifying score prescribed by the company. UIIC also reserves the right to fix minimum eligibility standards, benchmarks and cut-offs based on factors such as the number of vacancies and candidate performance.

Therefore, candidates should not assume a fixed percentage as the final qualifying standard unless UIIC officially announces it.

UIIC AO Score Normalization and Equating

When an examination is conducted in multiple sessions, UIIC will use an equating process to adjust for minor differences in difficulty between different test forms.

The corrected score is first calculated after applying the penalty for wrong answers. The scores may then be equated across different sessions. Test-wise and total scores are reported up to two decimal places.

In case two candidates obtain the same consolidated score, the candidate who is senior in age is placed above the candidate who is junior in age.

UIIC AO Exam Centres 2026

The online competitive examination will be conducted at specified centres across India.

Candidates can select one examination centre while filling the application form. However, UIIC reserves the right to allot a different centre if required due to administrative reasons, capacity constraints or insufficient candidate response at a particular centre.

Once selected, the examination-centre preference is final and requests for change of centre, venue, date or session will not be entertained.

Candidates must appear at the venue mentioned in their call letter.

UIIC AO Call Letter 2026

Candidates will have to download their UIIC AO Call Letter 2026 from the official UIIC website.

UIIC will also send intimation through email/SMS. Candidates will need:

  • Registration Number/Roll Number
  • Password/Date of Birth

No hard copy of the call letter will be sent by post.

Candidates must affix a recent, recognizable photograph to the call letter, preferably the same photograph submitted during registration.

Documents Required for UIIC AO Exam

Candidates will not be permitted to appear for the examination without the required documents.

Candidates must carry:

  • Valid Call Letter with recent recognizable photograph affixed
  • Original valid photo identity proof
  • Photocopy of the photo identity proof
  • Two recent passport-size photographs
  • Additional documents wherever applicable for PwBD candidates

The name on the photo ID must exactly match the name on the call letter.

Valid Photo ID for UIIC AO Exam

Accepted identification documents include:

  • Passport

  • Photo ID issued by a Gazetted Officer on official letterhead with photograph

Ration Card and Learner’s Driving Licence are not accepted as valid ID proof.

If a candidate has changed their name, they must produce the relevant original Gazette notification, marriage certificate or affidavit, as applicable.

UIIC AO Examination Centre Reporting Time

Candidates are advised to reach the examination centre well before the reporting time mentioned in the call letter.

Late-arriving candidates will not be permitted to take the examination. The reporting time is earlier than the actual test start time because candidates may need additional time for:

  • Identity verification
  • Collection and verification of documents
  • Logging in
  • Examination instructions
  • Other administrative formalities

For the one-hour Preliminary Examination, candidates may have to remain at the venue for around two hours or more. For the Main Examination, which lasts three hours including the described objective and descriptive components for relevant candidates, candidates may be required to remain at the venue for around four hours or more.

UIIC AO Interview 2026

Candidates who qualify the Main Examination and the applicable Descriptive Test will be shortlisted for the Interview.

For candidates called for the interview, UIIC may shortlist up to three times the number of vacancies of the relevant category/discipline. The weightage of the online examination and interview is 75:25.

Candidates shortlisted for the interview must carry original and attested/self-attested documents as required by UIIC.

For eligible outstation candidates, UIIC provides reimbursement of to-and-fro Sleeper Class railway fare or applicable bus fare by the shortest route, subject to the conditions specified in the notification and submission of valid travel proof.

UIIC AO Pre-Examination Training 2026

UIIC will arrange online Pre-Examination Training (PET) for eligible SC, ST, OBC (Non-Creamy Layer) and PwBD candidates in accordance with Government of India guidelines.

Candidates who want to avail themselves of PET must select the relevant option in the online application form.

Details of the training schedule will be communicated through the candidate’s registered email ID/mobile number. No hard copy will be sent.

Participation in PET does not create any right to employment with UIIC.

UIIC AO PwBD Reservation and Facilities

UIIC provides 4% horizontal reservation for Persons with Benchmark Disabilities (PwBD) under the Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act, 2016.

The notification includes detailed provisions for candidates with:

  • Orthopedic/locomotor disabilities
  • Visual impairment
  • Hearing impairment
  • Intellectual disability
  • Multiple disabilities

Only candidates with benchmark disability, generally involving not less than 40% specified disability as prescribed, are eligible for reservation benefits. The relevant disability certificate must be issued by the competent authority and may be subject to verification/re-verification.

Eligible candidates may receive facilities such as:

  • Scribe facility
  • Compensatory time
  • Magnified font for eligible visually impaired candidates

Candidates using a scribe must comply with UIIC’s detailed eligibility and documentation requirements.

For eligible candidates using a scribe, the notification provides 20 minutes of compensatory time for every hour of examination, subject to the prescribed conditions and prior registration for the facility.

UIIC AO EWS Reservation 2026

EWS reservation is subject to the Government of India rules specified in the notification.

The notification states that eligible EWS candidates generally must belong to families with gross annual income below ₹8 lakh, subject to the prescribed asset criteria.

A family will be excluded from EWS consideration if it owns or possesses any of the specified assets, including:

  • Agricultural land of 5 acres or more
  • Residential flat of 1,000 sq. ft. or more
  • Residential plot of 100 sq. yards or more in notified municipalities
  • Residential plot of 200 sq. yards or more in areas other than notified municipalities

The relevant Income and Asset Certificate must be issued by the competent authority in the prescribed format.

UIIC AO Job Posting and Transfer Policy

The UIIC AO Recruitment 2026 is an all-India posting opportunity.

The notification specifically states that vacancies are substantially concentrated in the Western and Southern Zones, and selected candidates are likely to be posted mainly in these regions.

The initial posting period will be for a minimum of five years, during which no request for transfer to the candidate’s preferred place will be entertained. UIIC also reserves the right to post or transfer selected candidates to any location in India according to organisational requirements.

UIIC AO Probation Period 2026

Selected Administrative Officers will be appointed on one year probation, subject to medical fitness.

UIIC may extend the probation period at its discretion. During probation, officers may undergo theoretical and practical training as prescribed by the company.

A particularly important condition is that officers must pass the non-life Licentiate Examination conducted by the Insurance Institute of India during the probation period to become eligible for confirmation. Failure to pass the examination within the extended probation period may result in termination of service.

UIIC AO Salary 2026

The UIIC AO Salary 2026 is based on the following basic pay scale:

₹82,485 – 4,050 (14) – ₹1,39,185 – 4,390 (4) – ₹1,56,745

In addition to basic pay, selected officers will receive admissible allowances and benefits.

These include:

The notification states that the approximate gross pay is ₹1,10,000 per month at Metropolitan centres.

UIIC AO Guarantee Bond 2026

Before joining as a probationer, selected candidates appointed on the regular payroll will have to give an undertaking to serve the company for a minimum of five years, including the probation period.

If a candidate resigns before completing the bond period, liquidated damages may be applicable.

The notification specifies that the liquidated damages can be equivalent to the actual gross salary paid to the officer, subject to the prescribed ceiling. In addition, the candidate will be liable to pay ₹35,000 towards onboarding and integration cost, with proportional reduction in liquidated damages in the specified circumstances after completion of probation.

UIIC AO Service Conditions 2026

The posts are permanent, subject to the applicable service rules.

Selected candidates can be posted or transferred anywhere in India according to company requirements. Candidate preferences regarding place of posting are not binding on UIIC.

UIIC AO Important Instructions 2026

Candidates should keep the following points in mind:

  • Only one application can be submitted.
  • A candidate can apply for either Generalists or Hindi Officers, not both.
  • Multiple registrations/appearances can result in cancellation of candidature.
  • Existing Administrative Officers (Scale-I) serving in UIIC are not eligible to apply.

  • Incorrect, false or incomplete information may lead to cancellation of candidature, even after appointment.
  • UIIC may conduct biometric verification through photograph, thumb impression and/or iris scan.
  • Candidates must not apply mehendi, ink, chemicals or other external substances to their hands where it could interfere with biometric capture.
  • Candidate responses may be analysed for suspicious similarity patterns; candidature can be cancelled if responses are found to be shared or invalid.
  • Canvassing in any form can lead to disqualification.
