IIT Madras launches its first international campus in Zanzibar

RBI to phase out Incremental Cash Reserve Ratio

  • The Incremental Cash Reserve Ratio (I-CRR) is a measure introduced by the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) to absorb excess liquidity in the banking system.
  • The I-CRR requires banks to maintain a 10% reserve ratio on the increase in their net demand and time liabilities (NDTL) between May 19, 2023, and July 28, 2023.
  • The RBI has announced a plan to gradually discontinue the I-CRR in response to evolving liquidity conditions and to ensure financial stability and smooth money markets.
  • The RBI will release the I-CRR funds in three phases: 25% on September 9, 25% on September 23, and 50% on October 7.

RBI Penalizes Four Co-operative Banks and One NBFC for Non-Compliance

  • The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has imposed monetary penalties on four co-operative banks and one non-banking financial company (NBFC) for violating its guidelines.

  • The non-compliance issues include sanctioning loans to directors and their relatives, breaching the inter-bank exposure limits, and failing to establish internal audit for outsourced activities.
  • The RBI has taken these actions to ensure adherence to its regulatory norms and to maintain financial stability.

APEDA and LuLu Group join hands to promote Indian agri-products
