SSC CGL Important Dates and Events Explained
Here, we have explained some dates and events related to the SSC CGL recruitment process that you must know.
1. Official Notification Release
As part of the recruitment process, the SSC releases the SSC CGL Notification in the form of a PDF on its official website. This official document came out on June 9, 2025. It provides candidates with all the rules, vacancy details (approx. 14,582 vacancies), and eligibility requirements needed to apply for Group B and C posts. Along with that, they provide an application form by which interested and eligible candidates can appear for this recruitment after filling it out. The deadline to submit the application and pay the fee was July 4, 2025. Missing this date means you lose your chance to appear in the exam for the entire year.
2. Application Correction Window
If a candidate made a mistake on their form, such as a typo in their name or an incorrect photo upload, SSC gave them a chance to fix it. This short correction window was open from July 9 to July 11, 2025. A small fee was charged to make these important changes.
3. SSC CGL Tier 1 Admit Card & City Intimation
Before starting the exam or releasing the admit card, SSC releases the Exam City Intimation Slip to help candidates know their exam city and date in advance so that they can plan their travel arrangements. For the 2025 recruitment, they released this prior information on September 3, 2025. The actual Admit Card, which is the mandatory entry pass to the exam hall, was released shortly after on September 9, 2025.
4. SSC CGL Tier 1 Exam Dates (CBT)
SSC CGL Tier 1 exam is the first stage, in which only those candidates can appear whose application forms are accepted. This year, this exam was conducted from September 12 to 26, 2025. A re-exam was also conducted on October 14, 2025, for specific candidates. Candidates who pass this exam will be eligible to appear for the Tier 2 exam.
5. SSC CGL Tier 1 Provisional Answer Key
After the first-stage exam (Tier 1), the SSC released the provisional answer key on October 16, 2025. Candidates could use this key to check their answers and raise an objection (by paying a fee) if they believed an official answer was wrong.
6. SSC CGL Tier 1 Result & Cut-Off Declaration
After reviewing all objections or issues raised by the candidates, SSC will declare the Tier 1 Result and the Cut-Off Marks (the minimum qualifying score). SSC has not announced the exact date to release the results and cut-off, but you can expect this to happen in December 2025. Candidates who score above the cut-off qualify for the Tier 2 exam.
7. SSC CGL Tier 2 Exam Dates (CBT)
Those who successfully clear the first stage exam (Tier 1) will be eligible to appear for the Tier 2 exam. The second test, the merit-deciding exam (Tier 2), is tentatively scheduled for December 2025 or January 2026. This is a comprehensive online test that determines your final rank.
