SSC CGL Eligibility Criteria

Before applying, candidates needed to satisfy specific age and educational qualifications.

1. Age Limit (as of August 1, 2025):

  • Minimum Age: 18 Years
  • Maximum Age: 27, 30, or 32 Years (depending on the specific post).
  • Relaxation: 5 years for SC/ST, 3 years for OBC, and 10+ years for PwD candidates.

2. Educational Qualification:

  • General Posts: A Bachelor’s Degree from a recognized University or equivalent.
  • Junior Statistical Officer (JSO): Bachelor’s Degree with at least 60% Marks in Mathematics at 12th standard level OR Bachelor’s Degree with Statistics as one of the subjects.
  • Statistical Investigator Grade-II: Bachelor’s Degree with Statistics as one of the subjects.

3. Nationality:

A candidate must be a citizen of India, a subject of Nepal/Bhutan, or a person of Indian origin who has migrated with the intention of permanently settling in India.

How to Apply Online for SSC CGL (Step-by-Step)

The application process is conducted entirely online on the new SSC website. For reference, here is the step-by-step procedure followed for SSC CGL 2025.

PART 1: One-Time Registration (OTR)

(Required only once for all SSC Exams)

  1. Visit the Website: Go to ssc.gov.in
  2. Register: Click on "Login or Register" > "Register Now".
  3. Enter Details: Fill in your personal details exactly as per your Matriculation (10th) Certificate (Name, Father’s Name, DOB, etc.).
  4. Verify Contact Info: Verify your Mobile Number and Email ID via OTP.
  5. Login Credentials: Create a secure Password. Your Registration Number will be generated.
  6. Upload Info: Complete the declaration process.

PART 2: Filling the Online Application Form

  1. Login: Sign in using your Registration Number and Password.
  2. Select Exam: Under "Live Examinations”, click on "Apply" for the Combined Graduate Level Examination, 2025.
  3. Fill Form: Most details will be auto-filled from your OTR. You need to select:
    • Preference of Examination Centres (3 choices).
    • Highest Educational Qualification.
    • Yes/No for specific post eligibility (like JSO).
  4. Upload Documents:
    • Live Photograph: Capture a live photo using the webcam/app (ensure good light and plain background).
    • Signature: Upload a scanned signature (10-20 KB).
  5. Preview & Submit: Check every detail carefully. Once submitted, changes are difficult to make.
  6. Fee Payment: Pay the ₹100 fee (if applicable) via BHIM UPI, Net Banking, or Cards.
