SBI PO 2023 Short Info

The SBI PO exam is conducted every year by the bank to select eligible candidates for this post. The exam consists of three stages: Preliminary, Main and Interview. The Preliminary exam is an online test of 100 marks, which tests the candidates on their English language, quantitative aptitude and reasoning ability. The Main exam is also an online test of 200 marks, which tests the candidates on their data analysis and interpretation, general awareness, computer knowledge and English language. The Interview is a face-to-face interaction with a panel of experts, who assess the candidates on their personality, communication skills and banking knowledge.

SBI PO 2023 Notification Out

The State Bank of India (SBI) has released the official notification for the recruitment of Probationary Officers (PO) for the year 2023-24. The notification was published on September 6, 2023, on the SBI website (sbi.co.in). According to the notification, there are 2000 vacancies for the post of PO across various branches of SBI. The online application process started from September 7, 2023, and has ended on October 3, 2023. The candidates who have completed their graduation from any recognized university can apply for this exam.

The selection process consists of three stages: Preliminary Exam, Main Exam, and Group Exercise & Interview. The Preliminary Exam is scheduled to be held in November 2023 and the Main Exam is scheduled to be held in January 2024. The candidates who qualify for the Main Exam will be called for Group Exercise & Interview in February/March 2024. The final result will be declared in April 2024. SBI PO 2023 Application Fee

The State Bank of India (SBI) Probationary Officer (PO) 2023 online application has a specific fee structure. The fees, once paid, will not be refunded under any circumstances, nor can it be held in reserve for any other examination or selection.

For candidates belonging to the SC/ST/PWD categories, the application fee is waived (Nil). However, for General and other categories of candidates, the application fee is Rs. 750. SBI PO Educational Qualification (as on 31/12/2023)

To be eligible for the State Bank of India (SBI) Probationary Officer (PO) 2023 position, candidates must meet the following criteria:

  • Candidates must have a graduation degree in any discipline from a university recognized by the Central Government or hold an equivalent qualification.
  • Candidates who are in the final year or semester of their graduation may apply provisionally. However, they must provide proof of having passed the graduation examination if they are called for an interview.
  • Candidates with an Integrated Dual Degree (IDD) certificate are eligible, but they must ensure that the date of passing the IDD is as per the notification.
  • Chartered Accountant certified candidates are also eligible to apply.

SBI PO 2023 Exam Pattern

As already mentioned, SBI PO selection process has 3 stages. 2 exams (Prelims & Mains) are conducted online and it is followed by an interview round. Below is the structure of exams:

Phase-1: SBI PO Preliminary Examination

The candidates have to take an online exam where they have to answer 100 questions in 1 hour. Each wrong answer will deduct ¼ marks. The test has 3 sections. The bank has removed the sectional cut-off in the Preliminary Exam and only the total score of all the sections will matter for the next round. The bank will decide the cut-off or the minimum marks for each section every year based on the difficulty of the test. The table below shows the marks for each section:

Phase-2: SBI PO Mains Examination

The SBI PO Mains Exam has two parts: Objective & Descriptive Section. Here are the details:

The objective part has 4 sections: Reasoning & Computer Aptitude, Data Analysis & Interpretation, General/ Economy/ Banking Awareness, and English Language. It has to be completed in 3 hours. The descriptive part has 2 questions and has to be completed in 30 minutes.

The objective and descriptive parts are conducted online together.

For every wrong answer in the objective part, 0.25 marks will be deducted. No marks will be deducted for leaving a question blank or unattempted.

Objective Test: This test contains objective questions of 4 sections. The duration is 3 hours and there will be separate timing for each section.

Descriptive Test: Descriptive test will be of 30 minutes duration. There will be 2 questions for 50 marks. 1 question will be on letter writing and another one will be on essay writing.

Phase-3: SBI PO GD/ Interview

To get selected in the SBI PO 2023 Exam, a candidate has to clear both the Prelims & Mains Exam and then appear for a GD-PI session. In this session, a panel of selectors will ask the candidate about their past experience and questions related to General Knowledge and Banking Sector. The candidate has to pass the Interview Process to secure their final selection. The Bank will decide the qualifying marks for this round. The marks for these rounds are: Group Discussion – 20 marks, Interview – 30 marks.

Final Selection

The State Bank of India will make a merit list after the Personal Interviews. The merit list will consider the candidate’s score in the Mains Exam and the Interview Round. The final cut-off marks will depend on the score of the candidates and the number of vacancies. The candidates who clear the cut-off range will get the Appointment Letter from State Bank of India for the Probationary Officer post.
