In this article, we have come up with an overall strategy to keep in mind when revising the Numerical Ability. As per the exam pattern above, there will be 35 questions that need to be dealt with in 20 minutes. This task is indeed challenging but with the right practice, you can definitely get good marks in this section. Let’s have a look at the revision strategy for numerical ability.

  • First things first, please ensure that the concepts of percentage, ratio & proportion, profit & loss & averages are crystal-clear. Not only will there be word problems on these topics, but these concepts are also tested in Data Interpretation & Data Sufficiency questions.
  • Memorize the squares & square roots until 50 and cubes & cube roots until 30. Also, memorize the tables until 30. Keeping all these data memorized will help you solve simplification & approximation questions easily (& sometimes without picking up a pen).
  • Revise all important topics such as Data Interpretation, Quadratic Equations, Simplification & Approximation, Number Series etc. Practice questions on these topics and on Word Problems (on topics like Simple Interest & Compound Interest, Time Work & Wages, Speed Time & Distance, Boats & Streams etc.).
  • If you have taken notes of formulae, shortcuts & tricks; now is the perfect time to revise them & put them into practice on a regular basis.
  • Keep taking Mock Tests to deal with an ensemble of questions on important topics in a controlled environment
  • Maintain a proper balance between speed and accuracy while taking Mock Tests. Ensure that you don’t attract too many negative marks and at the same time also ensure that you ain’t losing out on precious marks by putting too much time into a single question.
  • Don’t take any questions on your ego. If you ain’t able to solve a question within 2 mins, it’s better to move to the next question.
  • Pick the questions on topics which are easy & moderate first. So, you can get started with number series, approximation, simplification, equations comparison, and easy data interpretation sets and then move on to word problems. Once these are done, you can move to the remaining questions.

This is all from us in this article. Keep taking RBI Asst. Mock Tests to track & improve your performance. Wishing you all the best for your revision!
