The LIC AAO Prelims exam is scheduled on 3rd October 2025. The online applications are invited from the eligible aspirants who want to work in LIC as AAO. The selection process consists of Prelims, Mains, and an Interview. A total of 100 questions (70 marks) will be asked in the Prelims exam from 3 subjects (English, Quant, and Reasoning). LIC AAO topic-wise weightage will help you in identifying important topics that will guide you in your preparation. When you are preparing the most repeated topics for the exam, the probability of your scoring well will be high. LIC AAO Prelims Topic-wise Weightage Overview

The LIC AAO Prelims exam is of 70 marks and consists of 100 multiple-choice questions from three sections. You get a total of 1 hour to complete the exam with 20-minute sectional timing. The Prelims marks distribution is as such that the exam consists of 35 questions from Reasoning Ability topics, 35 questions from Quantitative Aptitude topics, and 30 questions from English Language topics. The English Language section marks are not counted for merit. Therefore, the final score out of 70 is considered to decide the cut-off marks. Considering this, you need to prepare by focusing more on the Reasoning and Quantitative Aptitude topics, as in the English section, you just need to score 10 marks (qualifying marks).

LIC AAO Topic-wise Weightage For Prelims

The weightage of the topics from each section in the LIC AAO Prelims exam that was conducted in 2023, 2021, and 2019 has been provided here. The topics are taken from the LIC AAO syllabus weightage.

In the Reasoning Ability section, the higher-weightage and most repeated topics include Puzzles and Seating Arrangement, Direction Sense, Inequality, Syllogism, Blood Relations, Coding-Decoding, Alphanumeric series, and Miscellaneous.

In the Quantitative Aptitude section, the higher-weightage and most repeated topics include DI, Arithmetic, Number Series, and Quadratic Equation.

In the English Language section, the higher-weightage and most repeated topics include RC, Para Jumbles, Error Spotting, Cloze tests, Single Fillers, misspelt words, word swap, word usage, word replacement, sentence correction, and sentence rearrangement.

These topics should be given higher priority while preparing for the LIC AAO Prelims exam.

LIC AAO Prelims Reasoning Topic-wise Weightage

The Reasoning Ability section in the LIC AAO Prelims exam consists of 35 questions of 35 marks. You get only 20 minutes to attempt all questions. There is no negative marking, so you can mark as many answers as possible to get 1 or more marks added to your score.

In 2023:

In the Reasoning Ability section, 15 to 28 questions were asked from the Puzzles and Seating Arrangement topic, and 3 to 4 questions were asked from other topics.

In 2021:

In the Reasoning Ability section, 20 to 21 questions were asked from the Puzzles and Seating Arrangement topic, and 4 to 5 questions were asked from other topics.

LIC AAO Quantitative Aptitude Topic-wise Weightage

The Quantitative Aptitude section in the LIC AAO Prelims exam consists of 35 questions of 35 marks. You get only 20 minutes to attempt all questions. There is no negative marking, so you can mark as many answers as possible to get 1 or more marks added to your score.

In 2023:

In the Quantitative Aptitude section, 10 to 16 questions were asked from the DI (Different DI sets). 9 to 13 questions from Arithmetic word problems were asked. 3 to 5 questions were asked from other topics.

In 2021:

In the Quantitative Aptitude section, 13 to 15 questions were asked from the DI (Different DI sets). 10 to 12 questions from Arithmetic word problems were asked. 3 to 5 questions were asked on other topics.

LIC AAO Prelims English Language Topic-wise Marks Distribution

The English Language section in the LIC AAO Prelims exam consists of 30 questions of 30 marks. You get only 20 minutes to attempt all questions. This section is only qualifying, and the marks obtained in this section are not counted for merit. You need to score more than 10 marks (mandatory for qualifying in Prelims) in this section.

In 2023:

In the English Language section, 7 to 10 RC questions of RCs were asked. 5 questions of Para Jumbles were asked. and 3 to 5 questions were asked from the other topics.

In 2021:

In the English Language section, 15 to 19 RC questions were asked. 4 to 5 Error Spotting questions were asked, 5 to 7 word usage questions were asked, and 3 to 5 questions were asked from the other topics.
