Every year it releases notifications for a number of vacancies and lakhs of aspirants compete with each other for these vacancies. But only some aspirants are able to get a job. First things first, you need to understand that cracking SBI PO Prelims & SBI PO Mains need two different strategies. Though both the exams are part of SBI PO recruitment process, they are quite different in nature and therefore you need to prepare accordingly. Please note that the syllabus for both these exams are the same but the difficulty level of the questions, questions pattern etc. will differ. Please note that you have to increase your speed and at the same time focus on the accuracy part as well. Remember that SBI PO Prelims is a speed-based exam and the faster you can answer maximum questions with accuracy, the better. On the other hand, SBI PO Mains checks your conceptual clarity. You need to be really thorough with all the concepts and have to practice a lot of different types of questions on them. Let’s have a look at the section-wise strategy for the different sections.

SBI PO Prelims Exam Preparation

Quantitative Aptitude

  1. Memorize tables up to 30.
  2. Memorize squares & square roots up to 50 and cubes & cube roots up to 30.
  3. Solve 25 questions of addition, subtraction, multiplication and division and try to gradually increase your speed
  4. Memorize fraction to percentage values and decimal to percentage values. At times calculating fractions is easier than calculating decimals/ percentages.
  5. Once you are done with the 4 steps mentioned above, start solving 20 simplification questions on a daily basis.
  6. Start solving 15 number series questions on a daily basis.
  7. Learn important topics in such a way that they help each other, for example, ratio will help you in percentage topic and ratio and percentage both will help you in simple & compound interest. Practice a lot of questions on them.

Reasoning

  1. Solve 3-4 puzzles & seating arrangement on a daily basis. Try to increase your speed gradually.
  2. Practice 15-20 questions from miscellaneous topics like syllogism, direction sense, input output, coding decoding etc.
  3. Start solving mock tests. Once you’ve submitted the mock tests, take out some time to analyze it and focus on those questions which you skipped or answered incorrectly.
  4. Please note that Prelims is a speed-based test. So when you are taking mock tests, try to pick the easy & moderate questions first and secure their marks.

English

  1. Read English newspapers on a regular basis to improve your vocabulary. Try The Hindu Editorial Vocab articles which are published on a daily basis.

SBI PO Mains Exam Preparation

SBI PO Mains exam is different from Prelims as it checks your understanding of different concepts. SBI PO Mains cut-offs are lower than SBI PO Prelims cut-offs. It all depends on the way you select and answer questions. Your accuracy also plays an important role in the SBI PO Mains exam.

  1. As already mentioned, the difficulty level of SBI PO Mains questions is higher than that of the Prelim.
  2. Know in & out of each & every concept and practice a lot of mock tests. Mock tests will give you a good idea of the different types of questions asked.
  3. Since you have already cleared SBI PO Prelims, it means that you have a good conceptual understanding. Now you need to brush your knowledge.

Current Affairs

  1. Take advantage of the Weekly Current Affairs PDF which we publish on a weekly basis. 
  2. Download our monthly dose of current affairs and check how many of these questions you already knew.

Static GK

  1. There are comparatively fewer questions from Static GK but it doesn’t mean that you have to ignore it. Get access to the Static GK Study Material here.
  2. Take Mock Tests on a regular basis and make a note of Static GK questions which you couldn’t answer correctly and the questions which you skipped.
