To begin with, applicants must be Indian citizens or fall under certain eligible categories, like subjects of Nepal/Bhutan or Tibetan refugees who settled in India before January 1, 1962. Candidates must hold a Diploma or Degree in Engineering (Civil, Mechanical, Electrical, etc.) from a recognized university or institute. The minimum age limit is 18 years, and the maximum is 36 years (standard 18-33 years + 3 years special relaxation), usually calculated as on 1st January 2026. Age relaxation is applicable for reserved categories.
