Important Events Explained
For those aiming for the Officer Scale-I (PO) post, the selection process is a three-tier journey: Prelims, Mains, and Interview. Here is what these milestones mean for your preparation:
Official Notification & Application
The notification marks the start of your mission. Serious PO aspirants don't wait for the last date (September 21st) to apply. Applying early ensures you avoid technical glitches and allows you to dive straight into your study plan.
PET (Pre-Exam Training) Call Letter
IBPS conducts PET for candidates from SC, ST, minority communities, ex-servicemen, and PwBD. When this letter arrives in mid-November, it’s a signal that the "real" battle is just 10 days away. At this stage, stop picking up new topics and shift entirely to full-length mock tests.
RRB PO Prelims Exam
The prelims are a qualifying round consisting of reasoning and quantitative aptitude.
- Total Questions: 80
- Time: 45 minutes (Composite)
RRB PO Mains Exam
The Mains exam is the most important stage, as its marks contribute 80% to your final merit. You will face three additional subjects not present in Prelims: General Awareness, Computer Knowledge, and English/Hindi Language. Since the Mains for PO is held on December 28th, you have roughly five weeks after the Prelims to master high-level Data Interpretation and logical puzzles.
Personal Interview
Unlike the Clerk exam, the PO post requires an interview (weighted at 20%). If you clear the Mains, you will be called in January or February 2026. This stage tests your personality, communication, and knowledge of the banking sector and current affairs.
Provisional Allotment
By March 2026, the final results will be declared. This is the culmination of your hard work, where your combined Mains and Interview scores determine your placement in one of the Regional Rural Banks.
