Akriti Rana’s Success Story

I completed my master’s back in June 2019 and initially was interested in defence services. I cleared the Afcat examination twice and went for SSBs but failed. Then I was looking for more better career options and found banking as one. I started my preparation again in March 2020 but I was inconsistent initially and paid a huge price for this I failed in every examination which was held during this year. I asked my parents for one more year and from Jan 2021 I started a dedicated preparation but this year too was no less than a roller coaster journey for me.

Which exams did you appear in till date and what were their results?

Before banking, I also cleared the Afcat examination two times.

2021 timeline-

• Sbi clerk pre-cleared Mains failed
• RRB PO pre-cleared Mains failed
• SBI PO pre failed
• NIACL AO pre-cleared Mains failed (cleared the overall cutoff but failed in the descriptive section by 1 mark).
• IBPS PO pre-cleared
• IBPS PO mains-cleared
• And finally selected as a Probationary Officer

Every morning I start my day with 1 editorial which really helped me during main examinations to easily comprehend the long passages. I religiously followed the practice mock free quizzes and sectional mocks along with paid mocks.

Quantitative Aptitude Section Preparation Strategy

This was the most challenging subject for me as I come from a biology background. I have already cleared a few basic chapters during my Afcat preparation but banking quant is quite difficult and demands more practice, especially for main examinations. You cannot rely on tricks to clear this examination rather clear your concepts and try to attempt as many questions are possible. Source- Practice mock free quizzes, sectional and paid mocks. I also used to keep a folder of questions that I was unable to solve during the mock on my PC and practice them on weekly basis.

Overall Strategy, Study Schedule & Challenges Faced

Rather than following a time-bound schedule, I preferred a daily to-do list which really helped me to stay productive and fulfilled at the end of the day. Self-doubt is one of the major hurdles that students generally face and it is pretty obvious, especially in these highly competitive examinations. I was in the same state but i started practising yoga and deep breathing daily for 30 minutes which is equally important during this journey and additionally i practice a feeling of gratitude Which really helped me to manifest my goal.
