Paper 1 of the SSC JE examination consists of 200 multiple-choice questions, to be completed within a duration of 2 hours. This paper is segmented into three sections: General Intelligence, General Awareness, and General Engineering. Additionally, candidates have the option to specialize in Civil, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering. The exam is conducted online, and candidates must select one engineering stream for both Paper 1 and Paper 2.

  • Paper 1 of the SSC JE exam is administered online and comprises multiple-choice questions.
  • For every incorrect answer, there is a deduction of 0.25 marks. (REVISED)
  • It is divided into 3 sections: a. General Intelligence and Reasoning, b. General Awareness, and c. General Engineering (Civil or Mechanical or Electrical).

Key Reminders:

• Candidates applying for the Junior Engineer positions in Civil or Quantity Surveying & Contracts should attempt Part A (Civil & Structural) in both Paper-I and Paper-II. Similarly, those applying for Junior Engineer (Electrical) positions should tackle Part-B (Electrical) in both papers, while Junior Engineer (Mechanical) applicants should address Part C (Mechanical) in both papers. Failing to do so will result in the non-evaluation of their answer sheet (Paper-II).

• There will be a negative marking penalty of deducting 1/3rd of a mark for every wrong answer.

• Candidates are permitted to bring their own Slide–Rule, Calculator, Logarithm Tables, and Steam Table for Paper-II exclusively. However, such aids are not allowed for Paper-I.

• The scores obtained by candidates in Paper-I will undergo normalization, and these normalized scores will be utilized to determine the final merit list and cut-off marks.
