Understanding the SBI PO 2025 Prelims Exam

Before diving into the revision plan, it’s essential to understand the structure of the SBI PO prelims exam. The prelims consist of three sections:

  1. English Language (40 questions, 40 marks)
  2. Quantitative Aptitude (30 questions, 30 marks)
  3. Reasoning Ability (30 questions, 30 marks)

Key Details:

  • Total Marks: 100
  • Duration: 1 hour (20 minutes per section)
  • Negative Marking: 0.25 marks deducted for each wrong answer
  • Question Type: Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs)
  • Cutoff: Sectional and overall cutoffs apply

The prelims are a qualifying exam, and the marks obtained are not counted in the final merit list. However, clearing the prelims is important to move mains examination.

Detailed 10-Day Revision Plan for SBI PO Prelims 2025

This 10-day revision plan is created to help you make the most of the final stretch before the SBI PO Prelims 2025. Candidates follow this plan along with the mock test to boost their confidence and maximise their chances of clearing the prelims.

Day 1 to Day 3: Solidify Core Concepts + Short Topic-Wise Tests

These first 3 days are crucial to brush up on high-weightage topics across all three sections.

Quantitative Aptitude:

Topics to Revise:

  • Simplification & Approximation (5-7 Qs)
  • Number Series (5 Qs)
  • Quadratic Equations (5 Qs)
  • Arithmetic (Time & Work, SI/CI, Profit-Loss, Ratio, Ages, Averages, Partnership etc.)
  • Data Interpretation (Bar, Line, Pie – basic level)

What to do:

  • Practice 50 simplification/approx questions/day
  • Solve 3-4 sets of DI and 10+ arithmetic questions daily
  • Attempt 2-3 sets of missing/wrong number series daily
  • Make note of formulas and tricks in a formula notebook

Target:

  • Accuracy above 90% in simplification/arithmetic
  • Speed in DI: ≤ 5 min per set

Reasoning Ability:

Topics to Revise:

  • Puzzles & Seating Arrangements (Linear, Circular, Box-based)
  • Syllogisms
  • Inequality
  • Blood Relation, Direction Sense
  • Alphanumeric Series
  • Coding-Decoding (New Pattern)

What to do:

  • Practice 3 puzzles and 2 seating arrangements daily
  • Revise reasoning rules for syllogisms & inequality
  • Take topic-wise mini tests (15-20 Qs) daily

Target:

  • 2 puzzles + 1 seating solved in 15-18 minutes
  • Accuracy in series/syllogism > 90%

English Language:

Topics to Revise:

  • Reading Comprehension (Story-based + Fact-based)
  • Cloze Test
  • Error Detection
  • Fill in the Blanks / Sentence Rearrangement
  • Vocabulary (Synonyms/Antonyms)

What to do:

  • Read 2 RCs daily and analyse each question
  • Practice 2 cloze tests and 10 error spotting questions
  • Focus on commonly asked grammar rules (Subject-Verb Agreement, Prepositions, Tenses)
  • Revise vocabulary using short quizzes or flashcards

  • RC accuracy > 80%
  • Cloze + Error detection in ≤ 10 mins combined

Day 4 to Day 6: Level Up Practice + Start Mock Tests

This is the testing phase, where your goal is to work on question sets under time pressure.

Key Activities:

Day 4:

  • Take a sectional test of Reasoning (20 mins)
  • Practice 5 DI sets and 2 new puzzle sets
  • Solve 2 English RCs and 15 grammar questions
  • Analyse performance and errors

Day 5:

  • Take a sectional test of Quant (20 mins)
  • Solve 3-4 sets of arithmetic (percentage, profit/loss, ratio)
  • Practice 20 vocab-based English questions
  • Try 3 sets of number series and quadratic equations

Day 6:

  • Take a sectional test of English (20 mins)
  • Solve high-level puzzles (Box-based/Double-row/Circular with variables)
  • Practice miscellaneous questions (coding-decoding, blood relation)

Day 7 to Day 9: Full-Length Mock Tests + Daily Analysis

Now, it’s time to simulate the real exam environment and polish your time management.

  • Read 1 newspaper editorial to stay in touch with reading habit
  • Sleep early & stay calm
