IBPS RRB-IX 2020 Notification was released to the delight of banking aspirants. COVID-19 has caused a national lockdown and has disrupted a majority of exams notifications and exam dates. This year, RRB has come up with 8,424 vacancies which are very good opportunities for banking aspirants. Aspirants should make good utilization of these vacancies. Most of the banking aspirants prepare for either of these posts and some prepare for both posts. Often aspirants are confused between RRB Clerk & RRB PO posts, both of which are included in IBPS RRB- IX 2020 notification. IBPS RRB PO vs RRB Clerk- Selection Procedure

The selection process of RRB PO comprises of 3 stages: Prelims => Mains => Interview whereas that of RRB Clerk has only 2 stages: Prelims => Mains. When it comes to merit listing for final selection, for RRB PO, it’s done on the basis of Mains & Interview. And for RRB Clerk, the merit listing is done on the basis of Mains exam. The application fee for both the posts is same viz. Rs 175 for SC/ ST/ PWBD and Rs 850 for all other aspirants. The age limit is 18-30 years for RRB PO & for RRB Clerk, it is 18-28 years. When it comes to educational qualification, it’s Bachelor’s degree in any discipline from a recognized University or its equivalent + Proficiency in local language as prescribed by the participating RRBs.

IBPS RRB PO vs RRB Clerk- Exam Pattern

Exam Pattern for both the posts is nearly the same. The only difference is that RRB Clerk 2020 has Numerical Ability whereas RRB PO 2020 has Quantitative Aptitude. Prelims of both the posts has 2 sections: Reasoning (40 questions for 40 marks) and Numerical Ability/ Quantitative Aptitude (40 questions for 40 marks). Total time allowed is 45 minutes.

On the other hand, Mains has 5 sections: Reasoning: 40 Questions for 50 Marks, Numerical Ability/ Quantitative Aptitude: 40 Questions for 50 Marks, General Awareness: 40 Questions for 40 Marks, English/Hindi Language: 40 Questions for 40 Marks & Computer Knowledge: 40 Questions for 20 Marks. Total time allowed is 45 minutes.

Negative marking of 0.25 mark is applicable in both the posts. Sectional as well as overall cut-offs are also there in both the posts. When it comes to the medium of exam, it will be as per the State.

IBPS RRB PO vs RRB Clerk- Salary & Job Profile

The pay scale of RRB Clerk is  7200- 400/3- 8400- 500/3- 9900- 600 /4- 12300- 700/7- 17200- 1300/1- 18500- 800/1- 19300. And that of RRB PO is 14500- 600/7- 18700- 700/2- 20100- 800/7- 25700. In hand salary of an RRB PO is Rs 30,000 to 35,000 (inclusive of allowances like DA, HRA, CCA etc.) whereas in hand salary of an RRB Clerk is Rs 15,000 to 20,000 (inclusive of allowances like DA, HRA, CCA etc.). The job responsibilities of an RRB PO is of officer nature and that of RRB Clerk will be of clerical nature.
