Tips  to Solve Coding-Decoding Questions

Let’s know some tips to solve coding and decoding questions with high speed and accuracy. This will also boost your score and help you to crack the exam in one go :

1. Learn the Positions of the alphabet

Start by learning the positions of letters (A=1, B=2, … Z=26). This helps you identify the pattern, like +1, -2, etc. You can make a small note or write it on your rough sheet in the exam.

2. Check the Direction of the question

When comparing the coded word with the original, check whether the letters are moving forward (+) or backward (-) in the alphabet. If you understand the pattern, you can solve them easily. For example:

  • DOG ➝ FQI means +2 shift for each letter.

3. Practice Number and Symbol-Based Coding

In some questions, letters are replaced by numbers (e.g., position of the alphabet), and symbols may be used. For example:

  • A=1, B=2 so CAB ➝ 3 1 2
Stay familiar with these patterns to answer questions quickly.

4. Write It Out

Always write the given words and coded words one below the other to see the pattern easily. This will decrease the chances of silly mistakes and help you spot patterns..

5. Practice Regularly with Timers

Since coding and decoding are easy scoring topics. Try solving coding sets with a timer. Target solving each coding question in 30-45 seconds to save time for other sections.
