The ECGC PO recruitment process consists of two main stages:

Stage 1 – ECGC PO Online Examination
The first stage is an Online Examination, which includes two parts:
- Objective Test (MCQs)
- Descriptive Test (English Writing Skills)
The objective test checks your conceptual clarity and aptitude in various subjects, while the descriptive test evaluates your English writing proficiency an essential skill for any officer-level post.
ECGC PO Objective Test 2025
The objective test comprises 200 multiple-choice questions (MCQs) carrying 1 mark each, with a negative marking of 0.25 marks for every incorrect answer.
The test is conducted online and is divided into five sections each with separate timing.

- The interview carries 60 marks (as per previous trends).
- The final merit list is prepared by combining marks obtained in the Online Exam (Objective + Descriptive) and Interview in a ratio (generally 80:20).

Final Selection and Merit List
The final selection of candidates is based on aggregate marks scored in both the online test and interview. Only those who meet the cut-off marks in each phase and perform well overall are offered the appointment letter for the position of Probationary Officer in ECGC.
