Factors Affecting the IBPS Clerk Preliminary Exam Cut-Off
The IBPS Clerk Cut-off marks are not fixed and can change every year depending on the important factors. By getting an idea of these factors, students can better plan their preparation and increase the chances of selection.
Difficulty level of the exam
Difficulty level is one of the major factors when it comes to cut-off. If the difficulty level of the exam is very high, then the cut-off will be lower. In contrast, if the difficulty level of the paper is low, then the cut-off will be higher. The 2025 exam is considered moderately difficult, and the expected cutoffs are mentioned above.
Number of Vacancies
The total number of vacancies plays a significant role in deciding the cutoff of the exam. If the number of vacancies is higher in number than the cut-off will be lower as more people can be accommodated. But in contrast, the number of vacancies is fewer than the cutoff will be higher. In IBPS Clerk, the regional cut-offs vary as per regional vacancies.
Number of Candidates who appeared in the examination
Often lakhs of students fill the application forms, but many give up on the exam day. For a few thousand vacancies, tens of lakhs of applications are filled, and out of them, lakhs of students appear in the exam. The applicants appearing in the exam affects the cutoff.
State & category Variations
Cut-offs differ across states and categories (General, OBC, SC/ST, EWS). For example, the expected General category cut-off ranges from 77–84 in Delhi, 76–82 in Uttar Pradesh, and 84–90 in West Bengal. These variations are again somewhat the result of the number of vacancies in that particular state and the number of applicants who appeared in the examination from that state
