UPSC EPFO Age Limit 2025 (As on 18 August 2025)

As per the UPSC EPFO Eligibility Criteria, the upper age limit is different for both posts. For APFC, the age limit is 35 years. For EO/AO, it is 30 years.

Age Relaxation (Applicable for Both EO/AO & APFC)

Candidates from reserved categories will get age relaxation in the upper age limit. This relaxation applies to both EO/AO and APFC posts. You can check the details of age relaxation in the table below.

Educational Qualification for EO/AO and APFC

You must have at least a bachelor’s degree in any related stream to apply for the UPSC EPFO exam. Candidates with a degree in Law, M.A. in Business Administration, a 5-year Law degree, or a PG diploma in Company Secretary, Management, Cost and Management Accounting, or Chartered Accountancy will be given preference.

For Both Posts:

  • You must have a Bachelor’s degree in any discipline from a recognised university.

Preference (for APFC):

  • Candidates with qualifications in Law, Company Secretary, MBA, Public Administration, or CA/ICWA will be given preference.

Nationality Criteria

You’re eligible if you fall under any of the following:

  • Citizen of India or Nepal
  • Citizen of Bhutan
  • A Tibetan refugee who came to India before 1st Jan 1962
  • A person of Indian origin who migrated from Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Myanmar, Kenya, Uganda, or other listed countries intending permanent settlement in India

Experience (Preferred but Not Mandatory)

It is an added advantage to have relevant experience. It will increase your chances of getting shortlisted. So, candidates with at least 2 years of experience in Accounts, Administration, or Legal matters will be preferred.

In short, experience is not compulsory, but candidates with at least 2 years of experience in Administration, Accounts, and Legal Matters will get an advantage over other candidates.

Attempts Allowed

The official notification doesn’t mention any limit on the number of attempts. If you meet the eligibility rules and fall within the age limit, you can apply for the exam. So, there is no limit on the number of attempts. If you meet the age and eligibility rules, you can apply.

UPSC EPFO APFC Eligibility 2025

If you’re planning to apply for the UPSC EPFO APFC 2025 exam, you must meet the eligibility rules set by UPSC. The criteria for APFC is slightly different from that of EO/AO. Check the details below:

  1. Age Limit: You must be between 21 and 35 years old as on the last date of online application.
  2. Educational Qualification: A bachelor’s degree in any stream from a recognised university is required. A diploma in Company Law, Labour Laws, or Public Administration is desirable, but not compulsory.
  3. Nationality: You must be:
    1. A citizen of India, or
    2. A subject of Nepal or Bhutan, or
    3. A Tibetan refugee who came to India before 1st January 1962 to settle permanently, or
    4. A person of Indian origin who migrated from certain countries to settle in India.
  4. Experience: Not mandatory, but candidates with experience in Accounts, Administration, or Legal matters will be preferred.
  5. Number of Attempts: No attempt limit. You can apply as long as you meet the age and qualification rules.
