Concepts & Tricks to Approach IBPS PO Puzzles

To excel at solving IBPS PO Prelims puzzles, candidates must adopt a systematic approach. Below are some key strategies to solve puzzles efficiently:

Read the problem carefully: Understand the given conditions, identify the type of puzzle, and note any specific constraints (e.g., directions, attributes, or negative signs).

Organise information effectively by using diagrams, tables, or charts to visually represent data. For example:

  • For seating arrangements, draw a line, circle, or table.
  • For floor-based puzzles, draw a table with floors and attributes.

Identify definite clues: Start with clues that provide concrete information (e.g., “A sits on the far left” or “B lives on the third floor”).

Use negation: Limit the possibilities by eliminating options that violate the given conditions.

Handle negative hints: Pay attention to hints that tell what is not possible (for example, “A does not sit next to B”).

Practice time management: Since puzzles are time-consuming, aim to solve them within 5-7 minutes. If a puzzle seems too complicated, skip it and solve it again later.

Check the answers: Double-check the arrangement to make sure all the conditions are met before answering.
