Many students and working professionals dream of becoming an RBI Grade B officer because it is a way to a handsome salary, job security, and respect. But, it is very important to understand the qualification required for the exam before thinking of applying for the exam. Why? Because knowing the right qualifications will help you avoid mistakes, save time, and plan your preparation better. It has been seen that some candidates start preparing without knowing the eligibility criteria. And sadly, they later realize they cannot apply because of age or education criteria. That’s why, before dreaming about the job, make sure you meet all the RBI Grade B qualification requirements. Let’s understand each of them step by step.
Educational Qualification for RBI Grade B Exam
A candidate must hold a bachelor’s degree from a recognized university to apply for the RBI Grade B General (DR) post. But there’s more to it:
- You must score at least 60% marks (or 6.75 CGPA out of 10) in your graduation.
- For SC/ST/PwBD candidates, the minimum required marks are 50%.
- The degree can be in any stream – science, commerce, arts, or engineering.
Plus, candidates who are in their final year of graduation cannot apply unless they already have their final marks/grades.
Important: RBI does not count rounded-off percentages. For example, 59.9% will not be accepted as 60%.

However, there is age relaxation for reserved categories:

- OBC: No limit (up to age limit)
