Rounak Kumar Ray’s Success Story

I started my preparation after completing my graduation in 2019. It was half hearted start initially but afterwards i was completely into it. Today when the results came i couldn’t be more happier as I have been selected in PNB. It was my 1st mains exam and i have cleared it. As far as previous exams are concerned, I have given every preliminary exam of 2020 and ibps clerk was one of them which I finally cleared.

Section-wise Preparation Strategy

English Section Preparation Strategy

This is the game changing section in any banking exam. English section in banking is all about comprehending and for that your commands in this section have to be strong. What i had followed was that i used to read online newspaper editorial daily. Reading newspaper will develop your comprehending power. And grammar too can be done with help of newspaper. You have to Write and learn new vocab and when you attempt mock focus on accuracy because this section doesn’t demand speed. Grammar section is important too learn rules and when you read newspaper see if the rules you have learn is implemented there or not. By following this you will definitely be scoring good marks in English.

Quantitative Aptitude Section Preparation Strategy

This section demand both speed and accuracy. Sole speed math regularly i.e simplification, number series, quadratic. These there in clerk exam is of 15 marks and very easy part of this section. DI which is the backbone of quantitative aptitude section is normally of 10 marks in preliminary exam but in mains this is the dominating part. You should solve 7-10 sets of prelim DI daily and 3-5 set of DI of mains. Now the arithmetic part, it is hardest part( which i felt) because in prelim it normally of 10 marks but for that you have to cover many chapters but it’s the decider part in mains without arithmetic one cannot clear mains exam so solve every chapter and try to do 20-30 question each day from different different chapters.

Reasoning Section Preparation Strategy

This is the scoring section (for me at least). Like quantitative aptitude this section also demands both speed as well as accuracy. Practice is the key in this section at first clear the basics then practice as much as you can because that is what generates speed in both quantitative aptitude and reasoning. Solve puzzle 5-10 of every type daily. And miscellaneous questions like syllogism, inequality, coding, etc solve 15-20 question daily.

General Awareness Section Preparation Strategy

This is the decider is mains exam. You have to read current affairs daily and revise after every week and month. Because it becomes very difficult to learn 10 months current affairs after prelim exam because you will hardly get one month between prelim and mains in which you have to prepare other subjects also. So it’s better to read and learn current affairs daily and learn banking and static affairs which is currently in news.

Overall Strategy & Study Schedule

I have always focus on studying smartly. I knew my weakness and my strength and was planning my study according to that only. I am average in math mensuration and probability was not my part so i decided to skip that likewise reasoning was the section i was looking to score more so i have left any chapter in this section and in English i initially studied grammar but afterwards it was only editorial. Like this only you have to plan your studies accordingly. Only to can decided your own schedule because you know yourself better than anyone.
