Read below what he has to say about his success:

Subham Aich’s Success Story

I started browsing and solving previous year question papers in July last year. Then I started solving free mocks and question sets from many different websites. During that time I just gave around 2 hours each day. In November when notifications for three different bank exams released, I filled all three and started practicing 9 hours a day for prelims. I collected materials from adda, gradeup, guidely, practicemock etc. On December, I purchased mock tests from PracticeMock and that really helped me understood the patterns of questions. Some topics repeat every year, and I collected those questions and solved those. I didn’t follow a structured approach because that will take time and I had only two months. I only focused on repeated topics and practised whole day long. English and GK were my strong area.

Section-wise Preparation Strategy

English Section Preparation Strategy

English was my strong area. I only gave mocks and sectional mocks on English. Reading the front page of leading newspapers (Financial express, ToI, ET, IE, Mint) comes in handy because most of grammar, sentence correction questions come from the articles. For vocabulary, highlighted the unknown words I read in articles. Reading editorials and letters to the editor section helped improve descriptive.

Quantitative Aptitude Section Preparation Strategy

I practiced number series, DI, Quadratics, Simplification, inequalities every day. As I had less time, I couldn’t focus on clearing arithmetic concepts. So I just focused on getting the other questions solved on exam. (That backfired in SBI PO prelims because DI questions were based on time and distance whose concepts were yet to be cleared.)

Reasoning Section Preparation Strategy

I had no idea what was reasoning all about. I could barely solve puzzles. After a month of trying here and there, I was able to solve box puzzles. So I focused more on the rest of reasoning syllabus. Every day I practiced some questions each from all the topics (mostly inequalities, coding decoding, input output, order ranking, blood relation, series)

Computer Awareness Section Preparation Strategy

Arihant Computer Awareness book and practicemock tests were sufficient.

Overall Strategy, Study Schedule & Challenges Faced

I gave 3 hours to each subject. Morning was for quants and reasoning. Evening was for English and GK. As I had less time, I couldn’t understand which sources to trust. I kept collecting gk materials from many sites and that later felt overloaded. I then stick to just two sources and test series.

How did PracticeMock help you?

Practice mock test series level felt nearly those of real exams. It surely did help me. Many concepts were cleared through solutions in test series. I relied computer awareness solely on practicemock tests.
