SBI PO 2025 Exam Overview

The SBI PO recruitment process consists of three stages: Preliminary Exam, Mains Exam and Interview

Preliminary Exam: Objective test of 100 marks with three sections- English Language, Quantitative Aptitude and Reasoning Ability.b There is no sectional cut-off in the preliminary exam.

Main Exam: Objective test of 200 marks (covering Reasoning and Computer Aptitude, Data Analysis and Interpretation, General/Economy/Banking Awareness and English Language) and Descriptive Test (Essay and Letter Writing) of 50 marks.

Psychological Tests, Group Exercises and Interview: The final stage assessing personality, communication skills and suitability for the role.

This exam is known for its high competition, with only a few applicants securing the position. SBI PO Prelims Question Paper

The Prelims exam featured 100 questions across English (30), Reasoning (35), and Quantitative Aptitude (35). English consisted of Reading Comprehension (8–10), Error Spotting (4–7), Para‑jumbles, Fillers, and Phrase Replacement. Reasoning was puzzle-heavy, with Seating arrangements & puzzles (20–25 Qs), plus Syllogism, Inequality, Coding‑Decoding, Blood relations, and Direction Sense. Quantitative Aptitude emphasized Data Interpretation (10–12), Arithmetic word problems (10–14), Simplification/Approximation, plus Number Series/Wrong Number and miscellaneous topics like SI/CI, Time & Distance. Strong focus remained on RC, puzzles, DI, and arithmetic in 2024.

SBI PO Mains Question Paper 2024

The Mains exam featured Objective and Descriptive sections. The Objective portion (200 marks, 3 hours) included four sections:

  • Reasoning & Computer Aptitude (45 Qs): puzzles & seating arrangements (~20 marks), machine input/output (4–5), coded direction (5), logical reasoning, data sufficiency & syllogism, etc.
  • Quantitative Aptitude (35 Qs): heavy on Data Interpretation & Caselets (~20 marks), plus number/ quadratic series, arithmetic.
  • English Language (35 Qs): reading comprehension (~18 Qs), error spot, match‑the‑column, word swaps, fillers, cloze.
  • General & Banking Awareness (40 Qs): current affairs (April–May 2025), banking schemes, economics.

Descriptive (50 marks, 30 min): essay, letter/email, precis/summarisation.
