How to use previous years’ papers effectively

“Solve & move on” approach wastes the value of old papers. Use this 6-step framework instead:

Diagnostic Attempt (without time limit): Solve a complete English paper without a timer. Mark questions whether you have any doubts about answering (even if they are correct).

In-depth Review: For each question, explain why the other options were wrong. Write down the rules you used or missed.

Error Log: Create a notebook following the structure.

Columns: Question type, rule/concept, your error, correct way, trigger word/hint.

Retry as per time limit: Retry the same paper after 7 days with a timer. Your score should improve with fewer “careless” mistakes.
