Delhi Police Constable Numerical Ability Preparation Strategy 2025

Hope you have gone through the syllabus of numerical ability. Now it’s time to start your preparation for this section. For that, we have provided a preparation strategy that will help you cover the whole syllabus systematically and effectively. To make it simple, we have divided the preparation strategy into 3 parts. 1st part will help you build concepts and foundation, 2nd part will help you know how to practice and improve speed, and last but the most important 3rd part will help you boost your preparation with revision and practicing mock tests. Let’s start with the 1st part.

Part 1: Building Concepts & Foundations

Before starting to follow part 1, make sure you have gone through the syllabus that we have provided above. In Part 1, your main goal should be to build concepts and strengthen your foundation. Your goal is to clear the concepts by understanding the basic concepts and practicing basic-level questions.

  • Learn One Topic at a Time: Instead of focusing on a lot of topics, you should focus on one topic at a time. You can start with the foundational topics like Number System, Simplification, and Percentages. Dedicate a day to one topic. First, understand the concept and learn the formulas, then solve 15-20 basic-level questions so that you can get an in-depth level understanding.
  • Memorize the Basics: This is non-negotiable. Learn tables up to 40, squares up to 40, and cubes up to 30. This will help you solve the problems quickly; you will not be required to do small calculations on a rough sheet.
  • Use One Good Book: For Delhi Police Constable Numerical Ability, you can refer to books like R.S. Aggarwal’s “Quantitative Aptitude for Competitive Examinations” or Kiran’s Chapter-wise Mathematics Book (based on the SSC pattern).
  • Create a Formula Sheet: Maintain a separate notebook for all the important formulas, shortcuts, and tricks. As you learn a new topic, add its formulas to this sheet. This will become your ultimate revision tool. This will help you during your last days of the exam.
  • Check Previous Year Questions: After studying a topic, look at the questions asked from that topic in previous years’ papers. This will give you a clear idea of the question level and pattern that SSC follows.

Part 2: Practice & Speed Improvement

Now that your concepts are clear, it’s time to build on that foundation. This second month is all about practice, application, and improving your speed. The more you practice, the faster and more accurate you will become.

  • Practice Topic-wise Questions: For each topic, solve at least 30-40 questions. Move from easy to moderate difficulty levels. After completing the questions, take a topic-wise test so that you can check your preparation level.
  • Work on Calculation Speed: Start practicing mental math techniques. Try to solve simple calculations without using pen and paper. This habit will be a game-changer during the exam.
  • Solve Previous Year Papers Regularly: Dedicate time to solving full sets of Numerical Ability questions from previous years’ papers. SSC often repeats question patterns, and this practice will make you very familiar with the real exam.
  • Start Using a Timer: Your focus now shifts from just accuracy to accuracy with speed. Set a timer while solving questions. For instance, try to solve 15 questions in 18-20 minutes. This will help you manage time effectively during the actual exam.
  • Daily Formula Revision: Spend 10-15 minutes every single day revising your formula sheet. Consistent revision is the key to remembering formulas under exam pressure.

Part 3: Final Revision & Mock Tests

You’ve built your concepts and practiced well. This is the final and important part because you will polish your skills, analyze your performance, and boost your performance. Your focus should be on full-length mock tests, topic-wise tests of weak topics, and targeted revision.

  • Attempt Full-Length Mock Tests: The Delhi Police Constable exam consists of other sections too. So it’s important to focus on other sections’ practice also. If you want to check your numerical ability preparation under real exam conditions that you must take full-length mock tests. This will help you develop an overall time management strategy for the 100 questions in 90 minutes.
  • Analyze Your Mistakes: After taking a mock test, make sure you are analyzing it very carefully. If you are taking PracticeMock’s mock tests, then you should go through the performance report provided after submitting the mock tests. That report will provide you opportunity to predict your rank, bookmark questions, compare with the topper’s score, and others. Don’t just check your score. Identify where you went wrong. Was it a calculation error? Did you use the wrong formula? Or was it a conceptual gap? Note these mistakes and try to improve them.
  • Revise Your Formula Sheet and Notes: Your handmade notes and formula sheet are your most valuable resources now. Revise them daily, paying extra attention to the topics where you are making mistakes in mock tests.
  • Practice Mixed Sets of Questions: In your daily practice, solve mixed sets of 15-20 questions from various topics. This will train your brain to switch between different concepts quickly, just like in the actual exam.
  • Stay Calm and Confident: We know that your final phase can be stressful. But the only thing that you can trust is your hard work and preparation. Maintain a positive mindset, eat well, and get enough sleep. A calm mind can solve problems much more effectively.
