Understanding the IBPS PO 2025 Exam

The IBPS PO exam, officially known as the Common Recruitment Process for Probationary Officers/Management Trainees (CRP PO/MT-XV), is a highly competitive exam conducted to recruit candidates for Probationary Officer posts in 11 public sector banks. The selection process comprises three stages:

  1. Prelims Exam: A 60-minute online test with 100 multiple-choice questions (MCQs) across three sections: English Language (30 marks), Quantitative Aptitude (35 marks), and Reasoning Ability (35 marks). Each section has a 20-minute time limit, and there’s a negative marking of 0.25 marks per wrong answer.
  2. Mains Exam: A 3-hour 30-minute exam with 155 objective questions (200 marks) covering Reasoning & Computer Aptitude, General/Economy/Banking Awareness, English Language, and Data Analysis & Interpretation, plus a 30-minute descriptive section (25 marks) for essay and letter writing.
  3. Interview: A 100-mark interview assessing candidates’ personality, communication skills, and banking knowledge. The final merit list is based on Mains and Interview scores in an 80:20 ratio.

With the revised dates, candidates have roughly 60 days (from mid-June to mid-August) to prepare for the Prelims, and about 50 days post-Prelims for Mains preparation. The compressed timeline demands a disciplined and efficient study plan focusing on the most scoring topics, regular practice, and strategic revision.
