Multiple bank exams are going on throughout the year, and these exams are a way to secure a good government job for a better future. The way to these jobs is a bit difficult, as the competition is very high. Lakhs of aspirants apply for some thousand vacancies. In such a tight fight, one needs a sure-shot plan to succeed in the exam and get their desired job, and for these, we have curated a 3-month smart plan for banking aspirants. Now, you must be wondering why only three months, because the coming three months have some very important banking exams in the pipeline, such as RRB Clerk and RRB PO.
Banking Exam Pattern
Usually, bank exams take place in two stages for clerical posts, and for officer-level posts(PO), it generally happens in three stages.
1. Preliminary Exam (screening test)
2. Main Exam (final written test)
3. Interview / Language Test (only for Officer-level exams like PO)
Preliminary Exam
Generally Prelims exam is done to shortlist candidates for the mains exam. The exam is objective in nature and generally conducted in online mode. Usually, the exam consists of three sections, except for RRB Clerk and PO, in which the English section is not there. The other sections are English, quant and reasoning. The duration is 60 minutes. Also, the test is qualifying in nature means marks are not counted in the final merit list.
| Section | No. of Questions | Marks | Time |
| English Language | 30 | 30 | 20 min |
| Quantitative Aptitude | 35 | 30 | 20 min |
| Reasoning Ability | 35 | 35 | 20 min |
| Total | 100 | 100 | 60 min |
- Sectional timing (20 min per section).
- Negative marking: 0.25 marks are deducted for each wrong answer.
Main Examination
The mains examination is the final round when it comes to the clerical cadre. For the officer level, this stage marks 80% weightage for the final merit list (20% weightage of interview). This stage is also conducted online and is objective and subjective in nature. There are almost four sections: reasoning & computer aptitude, data analysis, English, and general awareness. There is a descriptive test as well, which is of 30 marks and of 30 minutes duration.
| Section | No. of Questions | Marks | Time |
| Reasoning & Computer Aptitude | 45 | 60 | 60 min |
| Data Analysis & Interpretation (Quant) | 35 | 60 | 45 min |
| English Language | 35 | 40 | 40 min |
| General/Economy/Banking Awareness | 40 | 40 | 35 min |
| Total (Objective) | 155 | 200 | 180 min |
Sectional timing: Fixed time per section.
Negative marking: 0.25 marks are deducted for each wrong answer.
Interview/ Language Proficiency Test
For PO/ Officer exams, after the mains, shortlisted candidates have to undergo the interview stage. It is generally 20-30 minutes and is of 30-35 marks. Whereas for clerk/ assistant exams, there is no conduction of an interview stage, instead, there is a Language proficiency test to check local language skills for the area they have chosen to work in.

3 Month Smart Plan for Banking Aspirants
The plan is designed on a weekly basis in such a way that in the first week, you will develop the foundation or a strong base for the exams and in later weeks, we will focus on the basis of mock test performance. This is because it will be personalised according to your exam and will help you in strengthening your weak areas. Here we are giving a sample of 12 weeks along with a mock test at regular intervals. You can customise it according to your strengths and weaknesses.
WEEK 1- Building the Basics from scratch
This week, as already discussed, we will start to build our basics, such as learning percentage and ratio conversion tables for speed calculation, rooting words for English comprehension and vocabulary and reasoning basics by solving easy topics such as number series, syllogisms, etc.
