IBPS Clerk 2025: Overview

IBPS Clerk is a national-level banking exam conducted every year to fill clerical cadre vacancies in 11 public sector banks. The IBPS Clerk 2025 recruitment is for the 2025–26 financial year. IBPS Clerk Education Qualification 2025(as on 21.08.2025)

  • A Degree (Graduation) in any discipline from a University recognised by the Govt. Of India or any equivalent qualification recognised as such by the Central Government.
  • The candidate must possess a valid Mark-sheet / Degree Certificate stating that he/ she is a graduate on the day he/she registers and indicate the percentage of marks obtained in Graduation while registering online.
  • Computer Literacy: Operating and working knowledge in computer systems is mandatory i.e. candidates should have a Certificate/Diploma/Degree in computer operations/Language/ should have studied Computer / Information Technology as one of the subjects in High School/College/Institute.

Proficiency in the Official Language of the State/UT (candidates should know how to read/ write and speak the Official Language of the State/UT) for which vacancies a candidate wishes to apply is preferable.

IBPS Clerk Nationality/Citizenship 2025

A candidate must be either –

(i) a Citizen of India or

(ii) a subject of Nepal or

(iii) a subject of Bhutan or

(iv) a Tibetan Refugee who came over to India before 1st January 1962 with the intention of permanently settling in India or

a person of Indian origin who has migrated from Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka, East African countries of Kenya, Uganda, the United Republic of Tanzania (formerly Tanganyika and Zanzibar), Zambia, Malawi, Zaire, Ethiopia and Vietnam with the intention of permanently settling in India, provided that a candidate belonging to categories (ii), (iii), (iv) & (v) above shall be a person in whose favour a certificate of eligibility has been issued by the Government of India.

Local Language Proficiency Test (LLPT) Introduced

The candidates applying for vacancies of a particular State/UT, should be proficient in
(reading, writing, speaking and understanding) the specified / opted local language of that
State/UT (mentioned in the list provided for each Sate/ UT as per Annexure III).
– Candidate has to opt for ONE language at the time of online application for local language
test from the list provided for each State/ UT as per Annexure III.
– Candidates who produce 10th standard or above mark sheet/ certificate evidencing having
studied the specified/ opted local language will not be required to undergo the language test.
– The test will be conducted after qualifying the Online Main examination/ Provisional
Allotment but before joining the Bank.
– The test for knowledge of specified/ opted local language will be conducted as a part of
selection process by an independent body or by the Bank and will be marks based and
qualifying in nature.
– Candidates who fail to qualify this test will not be offered appointment and will be disqualified
from the process.

Documents Required To Apply Online For IBPS Clerk Post in 2025

Biometric Verification For IBPS Clerk 2025 Exam

  • At different stages of the selection process, Photograph and Biometric data (Right thumb impression or otherwise) may be captured/ verified. The photo captured will be matched with the photo uploaded by the candidate in the application. Candidate must NOT change his/her appearance from the photo uploaded in the application. Refusal to participate in the process of Biometric Thumb Impression capture/verification on any occasion may lead to cancellation of candidature.
  • With regards to the biometric data capture, please note the following:
    • a) If fingers are coated (stamped ink/mehndi/coloured..etc.), ensure to thoroughly wash them so that the coating is completely removed before the exam day.
    • b) If fingers are dirty or dusty, ensure to wash them and dry them before the fingerprint (biometric) is captured.
    • c) Ensure the fingers of both hands are dry. If fingers are moist, wipe each finger to dry it.
    • d) If the primary finger (Right thumb) to be captured is injured/damaged,
  • Immediately notify the concerned authority at the test centre.
  • In such cases, impressions of other fingers, toes, etc., may be captured.

Candidates Credit History

  • The candidate applying shall ensure that they maintain a healthy Credit history at the time of joining the participating banks. The minimum credit score will be as per the policy of participating banks, amended from time to time.
  • Those candidates whose CIBIL status has not been updated before the date of joining, have to either get the CIBIL status updated or produce the NOCs from the lender to the effect that there is no outstanding with respect to the accounts adversely reflected in the CIBIL, failing which the letter of offer may be withdrawn/cancelled. The final discretion in this regard remains with the allotted Bank.

NOTE: Candidates with no bank account shall not be required to produce the CIBIL status. CIBIL Score requirement is not a precondition to apply.

Please note that candidates will not be permitted to appear for the Online Preliminary as well as the Online Main Examination without the following documents:

  • Valid Call Letter for the respective date and session of the Examination. Those candidates who are called for Mains Exam will also be required to bring an authenticated/stamped call letter of the Online Preliminary Exam (along with an authenticated/ stamped copy of the ID proof)
  • Photo-identity proof (as specified) in the original bearing the same name as it appears on the call letter/ application form
  • Candidates reporting late, i.e. after the reporting time specified on the call letter for the Examination, will not be permitted to take the examination. The reporting time mentioned on the call letter is prior to the Start time of the test.
  • Though the duration of the Online Preliminary Examination is 1 hour, the candidates may be required to be at the venue for about 2 hours or more, including the time required for completion of various formalities such as verification and collection of various requisite documents, logging in, giving of instructions, etc.
  • For the Online Main Examination, though the duration of the examination is 160 minutes, candidates may be required to be at the venue for about 3 hours or more, including the time required for completion of various formalities such as verification and collection of various requisite documents, logging in, giving of instructions, etc.

IBPS Clerk Pre-Exam Training

Pre-Examination Training may be arranged either in Online Mode or Physical Mode for a limited number of candidates belonging to Scheduled Caste/ Scheduled Tribes/ Other Backwards Classes/ Minority Communities/ Ex-Servicemen/ Persons With Benchmark Disabilities at certain centres viz. All eligible candidates who opt for and wish to avail of Pre-Examination Training should fill in the relevant column in the ONLINE APPLICATION. While training will be imparted free of cost, all other expenses regarding travelling, boarding, lodging, etc., will have to be borne by the candidate for attending the pre-examination training programme at the designated Centres. Depending on the response and administrative feasibility, etc., the right to cancel any of the Pre-Examination Training Centres and/ or add some other Centres and/or make alternate arrangements is reserved by IBPS.

By merely attending the Pre-Examination Training, no candidate acquires any right to be selected in any of the Participating Banks mentioned.

No, there is no interview. Selection is based solely on performance in the Main exam.

3. Are Prelims marks considered in the final selection?

 No, only Mains exam marks are used for final merit and allotment.

4. Can I apply for more than one state?

No, candidates can apply for only one state/UT, and must be proficient in its local language.

5. Will the exam be conducted in regional languages?

 Yes, apart from English and Hindi, the exam will be conducted in regional languages of the states for which the candidate is applying.
