Step-by-step ways to get 75+ marks in RRB Clerk 2025

After analysing the exam pattern, previous year cutoffs, and PYQs, we have curated a strategy for you to follow to get 75+ marks in the RRB Clerk 2025 Exam. Follow the steps in the given sequence to make sure your preparation is going in the right direction, as you have enough time, and you can get distracted by various other things.

MAINTAIN A BALANCE OF SPEED AND ACCURACY

Check whether you can solve 38-40 questions with 90% accuracy

Before starting topics and all, check whether you can solve 38-40 questions in 45 minutes with 90% accuracy or not. If you have seen previous year cutoffs, then you will know the average cutoff is around 72 to 75 marks. And if you want to make it to the list, you need to target at least 75+ marks. To achieve such a huge milestone, you need to see that you can solve one question in a minute as a beginner.

Maintain a Balance of Speed and Accuracy

IBPS RRB Clerk is an exam that requires both speed and accuracy. The majority of the time, students can either maintain speed but lack accuracy or vice versa. The best thing to do is to try to maintain accuracy, because even if you solve all the questions, but they are not correct, then they are of no use. The other thing is that if you solved only 10-15 questions, that will also not help make up for the cutoff list. So, maintaining a balance of both is the key to the cutoff list.

Target sectional scores

After attempting 45 questions in 45 minutes, the next target that you have to achieve is to score 35+ marks in the reasoning section and 30 marks in the quant section. It can be vice versa based on your strengths and weaknesses. So the total score at this level of preparation is 65+. Once you achieve this, you will scale up to a 75+ score very easily.

Make a strong command over Important topics

Make a strong command over important topics and make sure that you don’t skip any questions from those topics to achieve the desired scores. The list is made after analysing. Here is a list of important topics of reasoning and quant sections to cover for the RRB Clerk Exam.

ReasoningQuants
PuzzleQuadratic(speed maths)
Coding-DecodingNumber Series(speed maths)
syllogismSimplification(speed maths)
AlphanumericData Interpretation
Inequality
Blood Relation

Make sure to solve all sets of puzzles in mock tests

To get 35+ in reasoning, you have to solve all the puzzle sets given in the paper. We know the time is less, but the puzzles are of a moderate level and very doable compared to other exams. If you are a beginner, target solving at least 7 sets of puzzles in one hour. Improve your speed day by day.

Solve at least 5 sets of questions from important topics other than Puzzle

In the reasoning section, try to solve at least 5 sets of questions from topics such as coding-decoding, syllogism, alphanumeric, inequality, and Blood Relation. If you want to clear the exam, you have to practice for at least 4 hours every day.

Master speed maths to ace Quants

Remember, there will be approximately 15 questions from the speed maths section of quants. We have mentioned in the table above regarding the topics that come under speed maths. You can only master this by practicing a good number of questions using short calculation tricks. Solve at least 10 questions from each topic.

Master Data Interpretation

To solve DI sets, you need to master ratios, percentages, and averages. You can use percentage-ratio conversion tables while solving questions. Make sure to solve at least 10 sets every day. The pattern is not predictable. It can be in the form of bar graphs, pie charts, etc, so practice as much as you can, so that you will be familiar with every type of pattern, and in the examination, it will be easier for you to solve.

Master Arithmetic to improve quant scores

In the arithmetic section, master topics such as time and work, train and speed, partnerships, profit &loss, boat & streams, and mixture and alligations. Solve at least 5 questions from each topic on alternate days. The arithmetic section contains a lot of topics, and when you start preparing after 2-3 weeks, you might feel that you are forgetting the previously learned concepts, but it is very natural and happens with the majority of students. You don’t need to panic, just make sure that you revise on alternate days.

Solve Previous Year Paper

Solving the previous year’s paper will help you get an idea of the exam pattern and the difficulty of the questions asked in the paper. It will help you in analysing your preparation. Is your preparation going in the right direction, or are you not able to solve exam-level questions? By solving PYQs, you get an idea regarding your weak areas as well. You can improve your preparation by working on your weak areas.
