SSC CHSL Eligibility Criteria

Candidates must fulfill specific criteria related to education, age, and nationality to be eligible for the SSC CHSL 2026 recruitment drive.

Educational Qualification

Candidates have to meet the minimum educational requirements. The exam is organized to get suitable candidates appointed to clerical-level positions in the Government of India’s ministerial departments. The application process for SSC CHSL 2026 is divided into two stages:

  1. OTR (One-Time Registration)
  2. Online Application for CHSL 2026

PART 1: One-Time Registration (OTR)

Step 1: Visit the SSC’s official website: https://ssc.gov.in

Step 2: On the homepage, look for “Register Now” in the top right corner and click it.

Step 3: Fill out your basic info:

  • Your name exactly as it appears on your 10th certificate
  • Date of birth, father’s and mother’s names
  • Class 10 board, year of passing, and roll number
  • Gender, category, nationality

Step 4: Set up your login:

  • Choose a username and password you’ll remember
  • Pick a security question and write down the answer somewhere safe

Step 5: Verify your mobile number and email with the OTPs you’ll receive.

NOTE: Make sure you’re using a number and email that is yours, and you have access to — all future communication from SSC will come here.

Step 6: Upload your:

  • Recent photo — not older than 3 months, clear, color, white background
  • Signature — on white paper with a black pen

Files should be in JPG format and under the size limit shown on screen.

Step 7: Submit everything and make sure that you got the confirmation message.

Once your registration is complete, you’ll receive a Registration ID. These are the important information or credentials, so make sure that you have saved them as they will be used for the login purpose during SSC CHSL 2026 form-filling process.

PART 2: Apply Online for SSC CHSL 2026

Once OTR is done, the next step is to fill out the actual CHSL application form.

Step 1: Again, come back to SSC’s official website and log in using your registration number and password.

  • Educational qualifications (10th, 12th — marks, board, year)
  • Caste category, EWS status if applicable
  • Preferences for posts (like LDC, DEO, etc.)

Step 4: Re-upload photo and signature if prompted.

Sometimes the system asks for a fresh upload during the application, or it may open the camera to take your fresh photo, even if you already did it during registration.

Step 5: After filling out the form, make sure you are double-checking everything.

SSC CHSL 2026 Selection Process

SSC CHSL Selection Process 2026 comprises two stages, Tier I and Tier II. Candidates who want to get into the ministerial department on clerical posts have to qualify for these two rounds of the selection process.

  • Tier I: SSC CHSL 2026 Tier I will be conducted in online mode. SSC will ask a total of 100 questions for 200 marks from General Intelligence, General Awareness, Quantitative Aptitude, and English. A total of 60 minutes will be provided to attempt the exam.
  • Tier II: The SSC CHSL Tier II exam is conducted online in two sessions, i.e., Session I and Session II. Candidates have to answer objective-type questions with computer skill tests in Tier II. A separate time limit of 1 hour is provided to candidates for Sessions I and II.

SSC CHSL Exam is conducted in two sessions, i.e., Session I and Session II. Candidates have to attempt questions in the subjects of Mathematical Abilities, Reasoning and General Intelligence, English Language and Comprehension, and General Awareness. SSC offers an attractive salary package after joining in different positions, such as Division Clerk (LDC), Data Entry Operator (DEO), and JSA.
