SSC GD Exam Date 2026 Postponed, Check Official Notice & Major Changed

Big Update for SSC GD Aspirants!

If you were preparing for the SSC GD Constable 2026 exam scheduled for 23rd February 2026, stop right there. The Staff Selection Commission (SSC) has officially postponed the exam date. Yes, you heard it right. The exam has been deferred (postponed) till further notice. On 17th February 2026, SSC released an important official notice clarifying that the exams are NOT starting next week. But that’s not the only news—there is a major change regarding Slot Booking that you must know. In this blog, we have provided the official notice and information related to that in simple words.

SSC GD Exam Postponed: What Happened?

The exam was all set to begin on 23rd February 2026. However, due to administrative reasons, the commission has decided to delay it.

• Old Exam Date: 23rd February 2026 onwards
• New Exam Date: To be announced soon (Deferred till further notice)
• Official Notice Date: 17th February 2026

What does this mean for you? It means you have earned bonus time. Don’t panic or believe rumors that the exam is cancelled. It is just delayed. Use this time to revise your weak topics.

Major Change: NO Slot Selection Facility

This is the most critical part of the new notice. Earlier, there was a buzz (and even some reports) that SSC might introduce a “Slot Selection” or “Slot Booking” facility where candidates could choose their exam date and city.

The Official Notice has rejected this.

According to Para 2 of the notice:

“The Slot Selection facility will not be applicable for the above examination.”

So, please do not wait for any slot booking link. SSC will follow its traditional method for Admit Cards.

New Admit Card & City Intimation Process

Since Slot Booking is cancelled, how will you know your exam date? SSC has clarified the timeline in the notice:

1. Exam City Intimation: You will get to know your Exam City and Date about 8 to 10 days before the new exam commencement date.
2. Admit Card (Admission Certificate): The actual Admit Card (with the center name) will be generated 2 to 3 days before your specific exam date.

Example: If the new exam date is announced as 20th March, you can expect the City Slip around 10th March and the Admit Card around 17th March.

What Does the Official Notice Say?

Here is a summary of the official text from notice HQ-IT018/4/2024-IT:

• Subject: Information for candidates of Constable (GD) in CAPFs, SSF, and Rifleman (GD) in Assam Rifles Examination, 2026.
• Key Point 1: The exam scheduled from 23rd Feb 2026 is deferred. Fresh dates will be announced in due course.
• Key Point 2: Slot Selection is cancelled. Existing policy (City slip 10 days prior, Admit card 3 days prior) will be followed.

What Should You Do Now?

1. Ignore Fake Dates: Don’t trust WhatsApp forwards. Keep checking ssc.gov.in or this blog for official updates.
2. Don’t Stop Studying: A postponement often makes students lazy. Remember, the competition is of 35+ Lakh candidates. If you stop, someone else will take your seat.
3. Focus on Mock Tests: Since you have extra days, attempt one full-length mock test daily to keep your speed up.
