LIC AAO 2026 Notification Exam Date • Vacancy • Eligibility • Syllabus
LIC AAO 2026: The Life Insurance Corporation of India is expected to release the next Assistant Administrative Officer recruitment notification in the second half of 2026. This cycle will open positions in both the Generalist and Specialist streams, along with Assistant Engineer posts, across LIC offices nationwide. Aspirants preparing for LIC AAO 2026 should use this waiting period to revise the eligibility rules, exam pattern, syllabus, and salary structure carefully, since LIC rarely makes major changes to its recruitment framework from one cycle to the next.

LIC has not yet published the official LIC AAO 2026 notification PDF. Based on the pattern LIC has followed in recent cycles, the advertisement is likely to surface around August 2026, with the online application window opening shortly after. Until the fresh notification arrives, candidates can use the previous cycle’s advertisement as a reference for eligibility conditions and exam structure, since these elements tend to carry over with only minor revisions.
The most recent AAO recruitment drive (for 841 posts) has already concluded — LIC released the final result for that cycle in April 2026, after which selected candidates moved to medical examination and joining formalities. This means the 2026 notification under discussion here refers to LIC’s next AAO recruitment cycle, separate from the one that just finished.

For Mains, candidates should additionally prepare Insurance Awareness, Banking Awareness, Static GK, government schemes, RBI/SEBI/IRDAI updates, and current affairs from the past six to eight months. LIC AAO Basic pay is Rs 88,635/month in the scale of Rs 88,635 to Rs 1,69,025. With allowances (HRA+CCA), LIC AAO In-hand salary around Rs 1,26,000/month in ‘A’ Class city. With House Rent Allowance and City Compensatory Allowance, the gross monthly salary works out to approximately ₹1,26,000 in an A-Class city (subject to revision in the new notification).
Additional benefits include a defined contributory pension scheme, gratuity, Leave Travel Concession, medical and group insurance cover, vehicle loan facility, meal coupons, and reimbursements for mobile handsets, briefcases, and furniture, along with steady promotional growth from AAO toward senior administrative grades within LIC.
LIC conducts the Preliminary and Main examinations at designated centres across most states and union territories, typically covering major cities in each region. The complete, centre-wise list is published along with the official notification and again at the admit card stage — candidates should always confirm their allotted centre from the call letter rather than relying on the notification list alone, since LIC can revise centres between Prelims and Mains.
LIC AAO cut-offs are declared separately for Prelims and Mains, and vary by category and exam difficulty each year. For reference, the previous cycle’s Prelims cut-off and minimum qualifying marks are given below.
| Section | SC/ST Candidates | General Candidates |
| Reasoning Ability | 16 | 18 |
| Quantitative Aptitude | 16 | 18 |
| English Language | 9 | 10 |
| Section | Maximum Marks | General/OBC/EWS | SC/ST/PwBD |
| English Language (Qualifying) | 30 | 10 | 9 |
| Numerical Ability | 35 | 18 | 16 |
| Reasoning Ability | 35 | 18 | 16 |
| Total | 100 | 28 | 26 |
Treat the Main Exam as the real scoring stage, since Prelims marks don’t carry forward — but don’t take Prelims lightly either, as clearing the cut-off is mandatory to even reach Mains. In Reasoning and Quantitative Aptitude, prioritise high-weightage topics like Puzzles, Seating Arrangement, and Data Interpretation, since these alone account for a large share of marks in both stages.
For General Awareness and Insurance & Financial Market Awareness, build a daily current affairs habit covering banking, insurance regulation, and government schemes, rather than cramming just before the exam. Specialist candidates should balance their professional knowledge revision with equal attention to the common sections, since many candidates lose ground by over-preparing their specialisation and neglecting Reasoning or Data Analysis.
Practice the Descriptive English formats — email, report, precis, and situation analysis — well in advance, since unfamiliarity with the format costs more time than the writing itself. Finally, attempt full-length mock tests under timed conditions to build the stamina needed for the 120-minute objective Main paper, and revise previous year cut-offs to set a realistic target score for your category.
Finally, solve LIC AAO previous year papers, take sectional tests, and maintain a balanced study routine. Consistency, revision, and smart practice are the keys to success.
