• For SC/ST/PwBD candidates, the minimum required marks are 50%.
• The degree can be in any stream – science, commerce, arts, or engineering.

Plus, candidates who are in their final year of graduation cannot apply unless they already have their final marks/grades.

Important: RBI does not count rounded-off percentages. For example, 59.9% will not be accepted as 60%.

Age Limit for RBI Grade B

The RBI also has strict rules regarding the age of the applicant.

• The minimum age to apply is 21 years.
• The maximum age is 30 years as of the date mentioned in the official notification.

This means you must have been born between specific dates, which will be mentioned in the notification every year.

However, there is age relaxation for reserved categories:

• SC/ST: 5 years
• OBC (Non-Creamy Layer): 3 years
• PwBD: 10 years
• Ex-Servicemen: As per government rules

You cannot claim age relaxation without having valid documents.

Number of Attempts Allowed

RBI also puts a limit on how many times you can appear for the exam:

• General category: Maximum 6 attempts
• OBC: No limit (up to age limit)
• SC/ST: No limit (up to age limit)
• PwBD: No limit (up to age limit)

Each time you appear for Phase 1 (Prelims), it is counted as an attempt, even if you don’t qualify for the next stage. So, plan smartly and apply only when you are fully prepared.

• Work Experience: For RBI Grade B General post, work experience is not required. However, for specialist posts like DEPR or DSIM, a post-graduate degree or experience may be needed.
• Language Proficiency: You should be able to read, write, and speak English fluently, as the exam and interviews are in English.
• Fitness: You must be medically fit as per RBI’s health standards. Candidates selected for the job must pass a medical test.
