The SBI PO recruitment process consists of three stages: Preliminary Exam, Mains Exam and Interview
Preliminary Exam: Objective test of 100 marks with three sections- English Language, Quantitative Aptitude and Reasoning Ability.b There is no sectional cut-off in the preliminary exam.
Main Exam: Objective test of 200 marks (covering Reasoning and Computer Aptitude, Data Analysis and Interpretation, General/Economy/Banking Awareness and English Language) and Descriptive Test (Essay and Letter Writing) of 50 marks.

The Prelims exam featured 100 questions across English (30), Reasoning (35), and Quantitative Aptitude (35). Reasoning was puzzle-heavy, with Seating arrangements & puzzles (20–25 Qs), plus Syllogism, Inequality, Coding‑Decoding, Blood relations, and Direction Sense. Quantitative Aptitude emphasized Data Interpretation (10–12), Arithmetic word problems (10–14), Simplification/Approximation, plus Number Series/Wrong Number and miscellaneous topics like SI/CI, Time & Distance. Strong focus remained on RC, puzzles, DI, and arithmetic in 2024.
The Mains exam featured Objective and Descriptive sections. The Objective portion (200 marks, 3 hours) included four sections:
Descriptive (50 marks, 30 min): essay, letter/email, precis/summarisation.
