Overall Difficulty Level & Good Attempts

The best news from Shift 1 is that the paper was not extremely difficult. Most students described the overall paper as Moderate. If you have prepared well, you can easily score good marks. 1. Mathematics Section Analysis (30 Marks)

As expected, the Maths section was slightly calculative, making it Moderate. However, the questions were formula-based and not overly tricky.

  • Simplification & Number System: 3 Questions (BODMAS based).
  • Advanced Maths: Geometry & Mensuration had a good weightage.
    • Circle (2 Qs)

    • Trigonometry (1 Q)
  • Arithmetic: The usual favorites were present.

2. General Intelligence & Reasoning Analysis (25 Marks)

This section was your best friend today! Students found it Easy and highly scoring. If you managed your time well, you could easily secure 22+ marks here.

Topics Asked in Shift 1:

  • Coding-Decoding: 3 Questions (Fictitious Language-based).
  • Seating Arrangement: 3 Questions (Linear and Data Sufficiency).
  • Analogy & Series: Letter and Number base (5-6 Qs).
  • Blood Relations: 2 Questions (Coded format).
  • Direction & Distance: 2 Questions.
  • Syllogism: 2 Questions.
  • Others: BODMAS sign interchange (2 Qs), Classification (1 Q), Puzzle (1 Q on Scheduling).

3. General Awareness & GK Analysis (15 Marks)

The General Awareness section was a mix of Polity, History, and Current Affairs. It was Easy to Moderate. If you revised your basic static GK, you could easily solve these.

  • What is the 44th Amendment related to?
  • Question related to the Poona Pact.
  • Who appoints the UPSC Chairman?
  • Question about Article 31.
  • Census based question.
  • State boundaries related question (Border Districts of Uttarakhand & Himachal Pradesh).
  • Recent Government Scheme and Current Affairs (1-2 Qs).

4. General Science Analysis (30 Marks)

Science carries the highest weightage along with Maths. The level was Moderate, focusing more on basic 10th-standard NCERT concepts.

Real Questions Asked in Exam:

  • Physics: Questions on Concave Lens, Refractive Index, and Ohm’s Law.
  • Chemistry: Reaction of CH4 Combustion, and finding the anion in NaOH.

Advice for Upcoming Shifts

If your exam is in Shift 2, Shift 3, or on upcoming dates, here is your quick action plan:

  1. Don’t panic: The pattern is very standard. There are no shocking surprises.
  2. Revise Formulas: Spend 30 minutes revising Maths formulas (especially Mensuration and Geometry) and Science formulas (Ohm’s Law, Lens formula).
  3. Accuracy over Attempts: If you are unsure about a GK question, just leave it. 75 correct answers are far better than 85 attempts with 15 wrong ones.
