A. Station Master (SM)

This is the most famous and highly respected job in the railways.

  • What is the work? You will sit in the station control room. Your job is to give green signals to trains and make sure trains arrive and depart safely from your station.
  • Starting Salary: Around ₹45,000 to ₹50,000 per month.
  • Age Limit: 18 to 33 years.
  • Medical Test: Your eyesight must be very perfect (6/9 vision without glasses).

B. Goods Train Manager (Old Name: Goods Guard)

Whenever a goods train passes, you see a man in a white uniform standing in the last box waving a flag. That is the Train Manager.

  • What is the work? You will be the boss of the goods train. You have to check if the train is running safely and all doors are locked.
  • Starting Salary: Around ₹40,000 to ₹45,000 per month (plus very high running allowances).
  • Age Limit: 18 to 33 years.

C. Senior Commercial cum Ticket Clerk

  • What is the work? You will sit at the ticket counter to issue tickets, or you will sit in the parcel office to book luggage and goods.
  • Starting Salary: Around ₹35,000 to ₹40,000 per month.
  • Age Limit: 18 to 33 years.

D. Senior Clerk cum Typist & Junior Account Assistant

These are pure office desk jobs. You do not have to stand on platforms or travel in trains.

  • What is the work? You will work on computers in the railway office. You will pass bills, make salary reports, and type official letters.
  • Special Rule: You must pass a computer typing test to get this job.
  • Starting Salary: Around ₹35,000 per month.

E. Commercial Apprentice (CA)

This is the highest-paying and best post in the RRB NTPC exam.

  • What is the work? You are trained as a supervisor for the commercial department. You will check ticket counters, parcel offices, and catering services.

  • Age Limit: 18 to 33 years.

2. Railway Police Jobs (For Any Graduate)

Sub-Inspector (RPF SI)

B. Assistant Loco Pilot (ALP)
