Total parts = 3 + 5 = 8

Q2. The ratio of two numbers is 4:7. Their sum is 99. Find the two numbers.

Solution:
Total parts = 4 + 7 = 11

Value of one part = 99 ÷ 11
= 9

First number = 4 × 9 = 36
Second number = 7 × 9 = 63
Answer: 36 and 63

Q3. If 12 workers complete a task in 15 days, how many workers will complete the same task in 10 days?

Solution:
The number of workers and the number of days are inversely proportional.

12 × 15 = Number of workers × 10
Number of workers = (12 × 15) ÷ 10
= 18
Answer: 18 workers

Q4. The incomes of A and B are in the ratio 5:6, while their expenditures are in the ratio 3:4. If both save ₹4,000, find A’s income.

Solution:
Let the incomes of A and B be 5x and 6x.
Let their expenditures be 3y and 4y.

Since both save ₹4,000:
5x − 3y = 4,000
6x − 4y = 4,000

Multiply the first equation by 4:
20x − 12y = 16,000

Multiply the second equation by 3:
18x − 12y = 12,000

Subtracting the equations:
2x = 4,000
x = 2,000

A’s income = 5x
= 5 × ₹2,000
= ₹10,000
Answer: ₹10,000

Q5. If a:b = 2:3 and b:c = 4:5, find a:b:c.

Solution:
Given:
a:b = 2:3
b:c = 4:5

Make the value of b equal in both ratios.

Multiply 2:3 by 4:
a:b = 8:12

Multiply 4:5 by 3:
b:c = 12:15

Therefore:
a:b:c = 8:12:15
Answer: 8:12:15
