That’s Punjab & Sind Bank LBO 2026. And if a candidate is an experienced bank officer looking for a permanent government bank posting, this might honestly be one of the best opportunities they’ll see this year. Let’s walk through every single detail so they know exactly what they’re dealing with — and how to crack it.

The Punjab & Sind Bank LBO 2026 application window closes on April 20, 2026. Today is April 7. That’s just 13 days left. If a candidate is eligible, they should apply first and read the rest of this guide while their form is being submitted!
A lot of people hear “LBO” and wonder — is this like a regular bank PO? The answer is: sort of, but better in one specific way.
An LBO or Local Bank Officer is a Junior Management Grade Scale-I (JMGS-I) officer — the same scale as a Bank PO. But here’s the twist: this is a lateral entry recruitment. That means Punjab & Sind Bank is not hiring freshers. They want people who are already working as officers in other banks and want to switch to a permanent government bank role.
💡 Simply Put
Think of it like a job transfer — but a permanent, government-level upgrade. If a candidate is already an officer in any Scheduled Commercial Bank or RRB, this is their chance to move into Punjab & Sind Bank as a confirmed Officer.

Cracking the written exam is just step one. Here’s the complete selection journey from application to appointment:
Stage 1 — Online Written Test
120 questions, 120 marks, 120 minutes. Four sections with sectional timing. This stage carries 70% weightage in the final merit list. It’s the most decisive stage — score as high as possible here.
Stage 2 — Screening
Candidates are shortlisted based on written test performance and eligibility verification. Documents are checked at this stage. Fake experience certificates or eligibility mismatch = instant rejection.
Stage 3 — Personal Interview
Carries 30% weightage in the final merit. The interview is usually held in New Delhi. Candidates must attend at their own cost. Questions will focus on banking experience, current affairs, and role-specific scenarios. Prepare well — this can make or break the final selection.
Stage 4 — Local Language Proficiency Test (LLPT)
Conducted alongside the interview for provisionally selected candidates. Tests reading, writing, and understanding of the local language of the applied state. Failing the LLPT = no appointment, regardless of written + interview scores. Candidates who studied the local language in 10th/12th are exempted.
Final Merit Formula
Written Test Score (70%) + Personal Interview Score (30%) = Final Merit List prepared state-wise and category-wise.
Since the exam date is not yet announced, candidates right now have a golden window to prepare. Here’s a realistic and practical preparation plan:
With 40 marks and a natural advantage (since candidates are already bank officers), this section can be a game-changer. Revise RBI policies, BASEL norms, NPA guidelines, digital banking frameworks, and recent RBI circulars from the last 6 months.
The GA/Economy section covers current affairs from the last 6 months. Read one good current affairs source daily — focus on RBI notifications, government schemes, Budget 2025–26 highlights, and economic survey data. 30 minutes a day is enough.
RC passages take the most time and carry the most marks. Practice 2–3 RC sets daily. For grammar, focus on error spotting and sentence correction. These are the highest-frequency question types in bank officer exams.
Most bank officers already use computers daily. The theory, though, needs revision — MS Office shortcuts, network basics, cybersecurity terms, and database fundamentals. 3–4 days of focused revision is usually enough for this section.
Each section gives exactly 30 minutes. Candidates cannot borrow time from one section to another. If they haven’t practised under timed conditions, they will struggle on exam day regardless of how well they know the content.
Attempt at least 2–3 full-length mock tests per week once the exam pattern is clear. Analyse every mock — especially the questions that went wrong. Most toppers say mock test analysis taught them more than studying from books.
The interview carries 30% weight. Start noting down personal banking experience stories, challenges faced, and how they were resolved — in clear, professional English. Also prepare for questions on banking current events and RBI regulations. Don’t leave interview prep for the last week.
PracticeMock offers free weekly Banking Live Tests covering the exact PSB LBO exam pattern. New users get free full-length mock tests for English, Banking Knowledge, GA & Computer Aptitude — zero cost, zero credit card.
