Strategies for Each English Topic

There are a lot of topics in the English section, such as grammar, vocabulary, comprehension, etc. Preparing each part requires a different strategy. To maximize your score, you should follow an effective strategy that can help you boost your English section preparation.

Grammar Part

Grammar is one of the most important topics in the English section, which consists of a lot of topics such as parts of speech, tenses, articles, subject-verb agreement, etc. Preparing all topics at a time can be difficult; break it into parts and make a strategy to cover them one by one.

• Whenever you learn a rule or topic, try to solve at least 50 questions so that you learn that topic in-depth.
• Revise that topic again after 4 or 5 days so that you can make it strong for your preparation.
• Focus on error spotting and sentence improvement topics because SSC mostly asks questions from these topics.
• When you see a long sentence in an exam, break it into parts. It will help you find the error more accurately or quickly.

Vocabulary Part

• Vocabulary consists of synonyms, antonyms, one-word substitutions, idioms and phrases, etc. This part can be prepared by learning and understanding at least 20-25 words daily.
• You are advised to learn new words by using them in sentences, as this helps you understand the context and makes it easier to remember and learn the word. For example, instead of “alleviate = reduce pain,” write a sentence like “Meditation alleviates stress.”
• Make sure to take at least 10 minutes for your revision. This will help you memorize those words for a longer time.
• It has been seen that SSC repeats the questions in the exam, so make sure to go through previous year question papers and try to analyze the level of vocabulary questions. This will help you know what types of vocabulary questions SSC can ask.

Comprehension Part

• It is one of the most important parts of the SSC CGL Tier 2 exam because SSC can ask at least 5-15 questions from this part in the exam.
• First, read out the comprehension carefully and understand the context of it. As you understand it, go to the first question, you will see that you will be able to answer the first question quickly and correctly.
• While reading, underline keywords, such as important dates, names, or transition words (however, therefore, but). Most of the questions will be asked using these words.
