SSC has postponed the SSC GD Constable 2026 exams, and you can use this time as an opportunity. I know you are all working very hard, sweating it out on the ground in the mornings, and solving maths problems late at night. But let’s talk about a section that scares almost everyone: General Knowledge and General Awareness. When you open a GK book, it looks like a never-ending ocean. And the most confusing part of it is Current Affairs. You might be thinking: “Should I read newspapers daily?”, “How many months of news should I learn?”, or “Which topics actually come in the exam?” Relax! Take a deep breath. You don’t need to read 100 pages of news every single day. In this blog, we have provided current affairs for SSC GD in the form of quizzes that you can attempt for free.

The Real Weightage: How Many Questions Come?

Before you start studying, you must know the rules of the game. The General Awareness section has a total of 20 questions (worth 40 marks). Out of these 20 questions, SSC generally asks 5 to 6 questions directly from Current Affairs. This means roughly 10 to 12 marks are purely based on recent news. The best part? You don’t need any rough paper to solve them. You read the question, you know the answer, you click it in 5 seconds, and you move on to save time for Maths.

Most Important Topics (Do Not Read Everything!)

SSC GD does not ask very tough, IAS-level questions. They ask direct, factual questions. If you have limited time, just focus on these 4 Golden Topics:

1. Sports News (The Most Important!)

You will definitely see 1 or 2 questions from here.

  • What to read: Recent Olympic winners, Cricket World Cup records, Asian Games medalists, IPL winners, and upcoming sports event venues.

2. Awards and Honours

If someone made India proud, SSC will ask about it.

  • What to read: Padma Awards (Padma Shri, Padma Bhushan), Bharat Ratna (like Karpoori Thakur), National Film Awards, and Nobel Prize winners.

3. New Appointments (Who is Who?)

  • What to read: New Chief Ministers of states, Governors, heads of big organizations (like ISRO, DRDO, Election Commission), and chiefs of our Armed Forces.

4. Government Schemes (Yojanas)

  • What to read: Any new scheme launched by the Central Government in the last 6 months (especially for farmers, women, and students). Just learn the scheme’s name and its main purpose.

3 Simple Tricks to Master Current Affairs

  1. The 6-Month Rule: Don’t try to learn the news of the last 2 years. For the 2026 exam, just focus on the news from August 2025 to January 2026. That is more than enough!
  2. Watch Monthly Videos: Stop reading daily newspapers for hours. Go to YouTube and watch “Monthly Current Affairs Top 100 Questions” videos. It saves a massive amount of time.
  3. Make One-Line Notes: Do not write long paragraphs. Write short notes. Example: “New ISRO Chief = [Name]”. Revise these one-liners every Sunday morning.
