The two most coveted positions in the RBI are RBI Grade A and RBI Grade B. While both positions come with high prestige, excellent pay, and job security, candidates often wonder which exam is harder to crack. RBI Grade B (Officer) exam is slightly more advanced and is meant for candidates who have a deeper understanding of economics, banking, and finance. Its exam pattern includes:
While the structure seems similar, the difficulty of the RBI Grade B exam is higher due to the advanced level of questions, especially in the main exam.
The salary for RBI Grade A starts at approximately ₹44,500 per month, which includes basic pay, allowances, and other perks. The total salary can go up to ₹80,000 per month, depending on the city of posting and experience.
On the other hand, RBI Grade B officers receive a starting salary of about ₹55,200 per month, which can go up to ₹1,27,280 with allowances and benefits.
While both exams are challenging, the RBI Grade B exam is generally considered tougher due to the advanced knowledge required in subjects like economics, finance, and banking. The higher salary and seniority of the Grade B post also reflect the increased level of responsibility, making the exam more competitive and demanding. Hence, RBI Grade B is often viewed as the harder exam of the two.
