Hello friends, my name is Ankit Kumar Lohani and I have cleared SSC CGL 2018. English Section Preparation Strategy

As far as english section is concerned one must read news & other magazines thoroughly. Practice as many questions as possible related to the below topics:

• Idioms & Phrases
• One word Substitution
• Common confusing word
• Antonyms & Synonyms

Other than these master vocabulary as much as you can. Also, knowing the basis of grammar thoroughly will be really helpful in scoring good in this section. after you have cleared all yoru basics of every topic & practiced different types of questions, it is important to pick up previous years papers and practice questions from that. past 5 years of papers can be really helpful. english by Neetu Singh Vol 1+Vol 2 will also be of great help.

Quantitative Aptitude Section Preparation Strategy

I practiced questions majorly of algebra, trigonometry, geometry & mensuration along with number system. pm provide variety of questions & i have focused on solving these type of questions. For Arithmetic I focussed on profit & loss, time & work, SI & CI. Practice previous 5 years questions. This is a lengthy section as it involves lot of calculations so one should master shortcut tricks in order to do fast calculation.

Reasoning Section Preparation Strategy

Practice analogy, coding decoding questions. Learn squares, cubes and practice questions based on other mathematical operations including identifying of figure based questions such as mirror image etc.

General Awareness Section Preparation Strategy

Static GK plays an important role in clearing SSC CGL exam. Around 60-65% weightage is being given to static GK that includes history, geography, economics, politics & science. As far as science is concerned science of upto 10th standard is to be learned thoroughly. Physics, chemistry & biology are important. Study current affairs of past 8-9 months at least including scheme based, policies & foreign affairs etc. Refer Lucent for General Knowledge. I have even practiced current affairs quizzes from practicemock.

Overall Strategy, Study Schedule & Challenges Faced

My overall strategy included praccing different questions of each and every topic mentioned above. Also, I practiced quizzes from PM & current affairs monthly & weekly pdfs helped me a lot.
