From Failures to Final Selection — Yash Dixit’s 3-Year Journey

Yash Dixit’s journey to getting selected in IBPS CSA XV was not a straight path. It took him three full years of preparation, multiple failures, and a lot of learning before he finally got there. His story is proof that consistency matters more than anything else.

How It All Started

Yash started preparing for banking exams about three years ago. The first year was tough — he did not clear a single exam. But instead of quitting, he kept going. In the second year, things started to improve. He cleared multiple Prelims exams and began to understand the pattern better. By the third year, he had reached the interview stage for SBI PO, IBPS RRB PO, and IBPS PO — and finally secured his selection in IBPS Clerk (CSA XV).

Section-Wise Preparation

English

Yash kept his English preparation simple. He solved PracticeMock’s sectional tests regularly and read newspaper editorials every day. This helped him improve both his reading speed and vocabulary over time.

Quantitative Aptitude

He did not rush into solving complex problems. First, he focused on clearing his basics. Once the foundation was strong, he moved on to regular mock practice. He always analyzed his mistakes after every test, which helped him improve his speed and accuracy gradually.

Reasoning

Yash solved puzzles daily and relied heavily on sectional mocks. He focused on understanding the right approach to each question type rather than just solving more questions. This helped him pick the right questions quickly during the actual exam.

General Awareness

For GA, he followed current affairs every single day without fail. He practiced quizzes regularly to keep his accuracy sharp. His key focus in this section was always accuracy — not just coverage.

Computer Awareness

He kept this section simple. He covered the basics — hardware, software, MS Office, internet, and networking. He practiced MCQs through quizzes and mocks to get familiar with the question pattern and revised short notes multiple times. His mantra for this section was simple: regular revision and practice.

Overall Strategy

Yash’s strategy was built around three things — daily practice, proper analysis, and consistency. He did not just take mock after mock blindly. After every test, he sat down and analyzed where he went wrong, where he spent too much time, and what needed improvement. He also read newspapers and observed question patterns to stay ahead. One thing he always prioritized was accuracy over speed — and over time, speed came on its own.

The Hurdles He Faced

Yash faced real setbacks — low scores, failed attempts, and moments of self-doubt. But he had a simple way of looking at it: “Every hurdle is similar to a puzzle in reasoning — it can be solved if you approach it the right way.” Instead of getting discouraged, he would analyze what went wrong and adjust his strategy. That mindset kept him going.

How PracticeMock Helped

PracticeMock played a big role in Yash’s success. The exam-like environment it provided helped him reduce exam fear and build real confidence. The questions were close to the actual exam level, so he was never caught off guard on the exam day.

What helped him the most was the detailed analysis after every test — it showed him his weak areas, the time he spent on each question, and his accuracy. He worked on these insights consistently. The sectional tests helped him strengthen individual subjects. Over time, PracticeMock helped him improve not just his speed and accuracy, but also his overall exam strategy.

Yash’s Message to Fellow Aspirants

“This journey is not easy — I know that. There will be days when nothing seems to work. I’ve been there too. But here is what I have learned: consistency beats everything. You don’t need to be perfect every day, you just need to keep going.

Focus on accuracy first. Don’t run after speed from day one. Learn from every mock, adapt your strategy, and trust your process. Everyone’s timeline is different — don’t compare yours with someone else’s.

If I could go from not clearing a single exam in my first year to finally getting selected, so can you. Just don’t quit.”
