The wait is finally over! The SSC MTS 2026 exam started today, 4th February 2026. If you have your exam in the upcoming shifts, you must be wondering: “Was the paper tough?”, “How many questions should I attempt?”, or “Is Maths really lengthy?” Don’t worry! SSC MTS Difficulty Level and Good Attempts: 4th Feb 2026

The exam was not very hard. Most students found Reasoning and English very easy, while Maths was a bit challenging.

SSC MTS Section-Wise Analysis (What was asked?)

Let’s break down each subject so you know exactly what to study for your shift.

1. Reasoning Ability (Session 1)

This was the easiest section! Questions were straightforward.

  • Difficulty: Very Easy.
  • Topics: Coding-Decoding, Series, and simple logic questions.
  • Good Attempts: 18-20 questions.
  • Tip: Since there is NO Negative Marking in Session 1, candidates attempted almost all questions here!

2. Numerical Ability (Maths) (Session 1)

Most students felt this section was time-consuming.

  • Difficulty: Moderate but Lengthy.
  • Feedback: Questions were calculation-intensive.
  • Good Attempts: 18 questions.
  • Tip: Don’t get stuck on one hard question. Since this is also part of Session 1 (Qualifying & No Negative Marking), try to solve the easy ones first and then make smart guesses for the rest.

3. English Language (Session 2)

English was easy! It helped students boost their scores.

  • Difficulty: Easy.
  • Topics: Narration, Active-Passive Voice were the main topics. Only 2-3 questions were from Antonyms/Synonyms.
  • Good Attempts: 20-22 questions.

4. General Awareness (GK) (Session 2)

This section decides the merit list, and it was “Moderate”.

  • Difficulty: Moderate.
  • Topics:
    • Current Affairs: Events from 2024 and 2025.
    • Static GK: Folk Dances, Festivals.
    • Sports: Olympics, Youth Games questions were asked.
  • Good Attempts: 14-16 questions.
  • Warning: There is a Negative Marking (-1 Mark) in this session. Do not guess blindly here.
