SSC MTS Self Slot Selection Link Active, Select Your Exam City, Date Before 25th Jan

Home » SSC & Govt » SSC Exam Self Slot Selection 2025

SSC Exam Self Slot Selection is a new feature that lets candidates choose their preferred exam city, date, and shift instead of getting a random allotment. This option was earlier available for SSC CHSL, JE, Delhi Police Constable Exam, and CPO, and now it has also been opened for SSC MTS. This initiative is a big relief for students who often faced travel issues due to randomly assigned centers. With the new system, you can pick the slot that suits you best. So far, SSC has completed the slot-selection process for CHSL 2025 Tier 1, SSC JE (10–13 Nov 2025), and SSC CPO (17–21 Nov 2025). From January 16 to 25, 2026, the same facility is available for SSC MTS exam. Read this blog to get all the details and direct links for slot selection for your specific exam.

CRITICAL WARNING: Unlike the earlier phases, the new notice for Delhi Police exams states that if you fail to select a slot, your Admit Card will NOT be generated. Do not rely on auto-allotment.

What is Self Slot Selection?

In simple words, “Self Slot Selection” means that you can finally get to choose your exam date, time (slot), and city, instead of SSC randomly allotting you an exam city, date, and slot. This is one of the huge upgrades because for years, candidates were stuck with whatever date or shift they were assigned, which often meant booking expensive last-minute travel or taking an inconvenient night shift.

This initiative is a big deal for most of the aspirants across India, whether you’re in Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, or a smaller town like Warangal. It can cut down your travel stress, let you plan your logistics (like hotels or train bookings) early, and help you use your time for your last-minute preparation.

SSC MTS Self-Slot Selection in 2026?

SSC is rolling this out in phases. While the windows for CHSL, JE, and CPO have closed, the window for SSC MTS Exam is opening now. If you are appearing in this exam, make sure to book your slot. The window will be open from January 16 to 25, 2026.

How to Complete the SSC Exam Self Slot Selection (Step-by-Step)?

When the window opens for your specific exam, we suggest you opt for this facility as soon as possible because lakhs of candidates will be using this facility and result in you not getting your preference.

  1. Head to the Official Portal: Visit the official website of SSC ssc.gov.in.
  2. Log In: Use your Registration Number/OTR ID and your Password/Date of Birth to access your candidate dashboard.
  3. Find the “Self Slot Selection” link – It will be available in your dashboard once the window opens.
  4. Choose your exam city, date, and shift – You’ll see a list of available options. Pick what suits you best.
  5. Pick Your Slot: The system will show you which dates and shifts (e.g., Shift 1: 9 AM, Shift 2: 1 PM) are available for that city. Pick the one that suits you best!
  6. Lock It Down with OTP: Hit ‘Validate & Submit’. You will need to enter an OTP sent to your registered phone or email. Do not skip this step!
  7. Save confirmation – Take a screenshot or print your slot confirmation for safety.

Important Note: If you miss the deadline (e.g., October 28 for CHSL), the system auto-allots a slot for you based on whatever is left. You are strongly advised not to let that happen!

Why This Reform Matters for You (as an Aspirant)

This is not just about convenience; it’s about logistics management, which can save you time for your revision.

  • Less Travel Stress: If you applied from a city like Patna or Jaipur, you can likely select a slot in that city, avoiding a 12-hour overnight trip to an allotted centre in a distant state.
  • Better Planning: Know if you’re in Shift 1 (Morning) or Shift 3 (Evening)? You can align your mock tests to that exact time. If your exam is at 2 PM, start practicing mocks at 2 PM a week before the exam!
  • Reduced Mental Load: Once the slot is locked, that anxiety is gone. You can focus 100% on studying, not worrying about when your admit card will drop or if you need to book a hotel in an unknown place.
  • Fair and Transparent: Everyone gets a fair chance to select their slot, rather than a random allotment.

Key Things to Keep in Mind (Tips & Precautions)

  • Stick to Your Application Choices: The slot selection is usually restricted to the three cities you mentioned on your original form. You can’t suddenly choose a fourth city.
  • Don’t wait for the Last Hour: Slots are first-come, first-served. The best dates and shifts (often the morning slots in major cities) disappear quickly. Log in on the day the window opens!
  • Finality Rule: The SSC official notices are clear: Once you submit your OTP confirmation, that slot is locked. Do not expect SSC to change it later for any reason. Choose wisely!
  • Check the Admit Card: Download the final admit card a few days before your chosen date. Double-check that the City, Date, and Shift listed on the admit card match what you selected. If not, raise a query immediately
