Other than reasoning, quant is one section which is a bit complicated and difficult to understand, especially a few important topics, so here in this article we will be discussing Free Simplification Practice Questions & Tips. In here, we will talk about how to approach simplification and approximation questions and what strategy to adopt to solve these correctly. Mentioning below are some important quant topics.

Most Important Quant Topics/Concepts

  • Profit or Loss etc

In order to understand and comprehend the difficulty level of the quant section and questions candidates must attempt the IBPS RRB prelims free mock test. The mock test is followed by detailed analysis and complete answers and solutions.

How to Approach Simplification questions?

1.  BODMAS Rule

The first thing to keep in mind while solving simplification/approximation questions is the proper application of ‘BODMAS’ rule.

‘BODMAS’ is an acronym that is used to denote the order of operations to be followed while calculating the simplified value of a given expression.
It stands for
B – Brackets
O – Order of power or roots (it also stands for the expression “of”)
D – Division
M – Multiplication
A – Addition
S – Subtraction

Mathematical expressions having multiple operations need to be solved from left to right using this order only i.e. BODMAS

Important Question Simplification For IBPS RRB 2024 Exam

Question 1: What will come in the place of question mark (?) in the given expression?

[{(4608 ÷ 24) ÷ 12} ÷ 4] + 11+ √169 = ?

A) 133

B) 138

C) 143

D) 148

E) None of these

Ans: 2

Solution:

[{(4608 ÷ 24) ÷ 12} ÷ 4] + 11+ √169 = ?

? = [{192 ÷ 12} ÷ 4] + 121+ 13

? = [16 ÷ 4] + 134

? = 4 + 134

? = 138

Hence, option b.

Question 2: What will come in the place of question mark (?) in the given expression?

125 + ? + 272 – 391 = 184 – 215 + 169

A) 124

B) 128

C) 132

D) 136

E) None of these

Ans: 3

Solution:

125 + ? + 272 – 391 = 184 – 215 + 169

? + 397 – 391 = 353 – 215

? + 6= 138

?= 138 – 6

? = 132

Hence, option c.

Question 3: What will come in the place of question mark (?) in the given expression?

2564 ÷ 646 × 162 = 4?

A) 4

B) 8

C) 2

D) 6

E) None of these

Ans: 3

Solution:

2564 ÷ 646 × 162 = 4?

4= (44)4 ÷ (43)6 × (42)2

4= 416 ÷ 418 × 44

4= 416-18+4

4= 42

? = 2

Hence, option c.

Question 4: What will come in the place of question mark (?) in the given expression?

√225 + √729 – √324 = 20% of ?

A) 120

B) 124

C) 128

D) 132

E) None of these

Ans: 1

Solution:

√225 + √729 – √324 = 20% of ?

0.2 × ? = 15 + 27 – 18

0.2 × ? = 24

? = 24/0.2

? = 120

Hence, option a.

Question 5: What will come in the place of question mark (?) in the given expression?

30% of 150 = 15% of ? + 20% of 180

A) 45

B) 60

C) 75

D) 90

E) 105

Ans: 2

Solution:

30% of 150 = 15% of ? + 20% of 180

0.15 × ? + 0.20 × 180 = 0.30 × 150

0.15 × ? + 36 = 45

0.15 × ? = 9

? = 9/0.15

? = 60

Hence, option b.

Question 6: What will come in the place of question mark (?) in the given expression?

√2116 × 4 + ?3 = 696

A) 8

B) 9

C) 7

D) 6

E) None of these

Ans: 1

Solution:

√2116 × 4 + ?3 = 696

46 × 4 + ?= 696

184 + ?3 = 696

?3 = 512

? = 8

Hence, option a.

Question 7: What will come in the place of question mark (?) in the given expression?

12.5% of 4960 + ?% of 2400 = 1580

A) 25

B) 40

C) 50

D) 45

E) None of these

Ans: 2

Solution:

12.5% of 4960 + ?% of 2400 = 1580

620 + ? × 24 = 1580

? × 24 = 960

? = 960/24 = 40

Hence, option b.

Question 8: What will come in the place of question mark (?) in the given expression?

4225% of 40 + 1226 = ?2

A) 56

B) 60

C) 62

D) 58

E) None of these

Ans: 5

Solution:

4225% of 40 + 1226 = ?2

0.4 × 4225 + 1226 = ?2

1690 + 1226 = ?2

?2= 2916

? = 54

Hence, option e.

Question 9: What will come in the place of question mark (?) in the given expression?

?% of 600 – 120 = 82 + 42

A) 40

B) 100/3

C) 50

D) 200/3

E) 25

Ans: 2

Solution:

?% of 600 – 120 = 82 + 42

? × 6 – 120 = 64 + 16

? × 6 = 200

? = 200/6 = 100/3

Hence, option b.

Question 10: What will come in the place of question mark (?) in the given expression?

{(452 – 214 + 72) / 5} × 2 = ?

A) 154

B) 142

C) 124

D) 136

E) None of these

Ans: 3

Solution:

{(452 – 214 + 72) / 5} × 2 = ?

? = (310 / 5) × 2

? = 62 × 2

? = 124

Hence, option c.
