Preparation Insights of Reasoning Syllabus

  • Dedicate 70% of your preparation time to Puzzles, DI and Arithmetic, as these make up most of both stages.
  • On the basic topics of inequality, syllogism, and simplification, adhering to accuracy will enable scoring, as many of these questions can be solved quickly.
  • In Mains, the recommended topics to focus on are Logical Reasoning, Caselet DI and Computer basics, as they will provide an advantage in making up to the merit list.

RRB Clerk Reasoning Preparation Tips

  • Before continuing to complex puzzles, solidify your understanding of basic concepts like Inequality, Syllogism, and Blood Relations.
  • Get good at linear arrangements, then circle arrangements, then floor arrangements, by practicing only one strictly until you solve all puzzles accurately.
  • Keep a list of all your puzzles, and with each one write out the reasoning of your end conclusions, along with the steps used. Read over your puzzles every so often to familiarise yourself again on patterns, so that if you see a similar question with a somewhat different query, you will have already thought about it and will be more efficient in solving.
  • Don’t forget to practice quick topics such as Direction Sense, Order and Rank, and Coding-Decoding consistently for about 15-20 minutes daily, so you can get more accurate in the quick question types.
  • The exam people/mocks are not going to be set with questions combined altogether topic-wise. Focus on warm-up mock sets, doing AI for puzzles mixed with blood relations, inequalities, etc. This can be a complete solution required to predict multiple outcomes through reasoning, so practice this on various levels.
  • With puzzles and seating arrangements, especially, solve by hand using the worksheet, to be able to identify any issues along the way. The visual identification process involved here is to save time, along with settling into some planned thought sequence.
  • Practice by controlling tenacity (ex, 5 puzzles in 25 minutes, etc.) so you gain some will with managing time when working under pressure.
  • Note the reasoning of a mock test where you spent time or made a certain assumption to identify a topic that has been foregone, and correct these patterns so that you will not run into this time loss again.
