You need to score above the cut-off marks in Prelims to qualify for the mains exam. This blog is providing last-minute revision tips for the NICL AO 2025 Prelims exam.

Last Minute Tips for NICL AO 2025 Prelims Exam

In the last few days, you must revise all important concepts of reasoning ability, quantitative aptitude, and the English Language subject. It is essential to refer to the Previous Year Papers (PYPs) for the NICL AO exam to get an idea of the types of questions asked in the exam. Make a practical study plan that works for you and prepare accordingly. Focus on practicing questions in a time-bound setup that will fetch you more marks, along with increasing your question-solving speed in the actual exam. Below, we have provided 6 essential last-minute tips for the NICL AO exam 2025.

1. Refresh Exam Pattern and Sectional Strategy

  • Recall that Prelims consists of 100 objective questions (English, Reasoning, Quant) in 60 minutes.
  • Each section is qualifying, so maintain a balanced attempt strategy.
  • Avoid learning or practicing questions from new topics now and focus on strengthening familiar topics only.

2. Learn Time Management Skills [Divide Study Slots to Practice Daily]

  • Assign approximate time slots per section (e.g., Practice Quant for 20–25 min, Reasoning for 20–25 min, English for 10–15 min).
  • Skip and mark any question taking more than 45–60 seconds, and revisit it in the last moment.
  • Remember, for each question for which a wrong answer has been given by the candidate, one-fourth (1/4th) of the marks assigned to that question will be deducted as a penalty to arrive at the corrected score.
  • So, avoid guessing answers in a hurry. Skip the question if you are confused.

3. Get the Real Exam Experience through Tests

  • In these final days, take 1 full-length mock test every day, ideally at the same time as the real exam.
  • This helps you get an overall exam experience and boosts your confidence.
  • After each mock, analyse each section: time per section, error trends(in which types of questions you are consistently getting incorrect answers), and question priorities (prioritize easy questions first and avoid time-consuming questions).

4. Quickly Revise Important Formulas and Concepts

  • Use last-minute cheat sheets: Have a glance at formulas, shortcut strategies, grammar rules, and vocabulary.
  • Quant: Try to memorize important formulas (arithmetic and others) and practice mental math shortcuts (calculation tricks, tables up to 20, square roots, quick addition/subtraction).
  • Reasoning: quickly revisit frequent puzzle types—inequalities, seating, coding-decoding—via sectional drills.

5. Manage Stress and Stay Calm in Last Moment

  • Don’t study the whole night and ensure at least 7 hours of sleep daily, eat light, and maintain a healthy routine.
  • Use relaxation techniques (deep breathing, light exercise, short walks) to stay stress-free and healthy on the exam day.

6. Be ready with Exam-Day Essentials and Positive Mindset

  • Reach the centre 30 minutes ahead of reporting time; carry your Admit Card, a valid ID, and extra pens.
  • Read instructions mentioned in your admit card carefully, and begin with your strongest section to build momentum.
  • Use rough paper efficiently for answer essentials and calculations.
